In fairness, that is utter bollox. If it was Welsh or Spanish, you wouldn’t have even watched it. It is a mediocre script, with workmanlike performances elevated by the cinematography. It’s not even in the top 20 Irish films. Calvary is better in every facet. But paddy says it’s begrudgery if you don’t acclaim it. Paddy needs to grow up.

Cate blanchett is pure stone cold useless. She was dacent in lord of the rings because she’s a bit scary looking, and the special effects were excellent. She has one facial expression- which can best be described as ‘wistfully stupid’.she gets by on posing as some sort of Australian intellectual…which is absurd. Babel would have been utterly utterly shite without her. Somehow she made it worse.
She’s as weepy, dreary and depressing as @farmerinthecity’s taste in music.

I always thought she seems really nice.
I’ve only seen her in the Elizabeth and LOTR movies and based on that would have thought she was a fine actress . Actually she did a great turn as Katherine Hepburn in the Aviator too which I just remembered
