Graeme Souness

I think there was nothing in his first comment but then got the hump with the ridiculousness of Sky deciding to make a big deal out of it. He initially included her in the convo saying we’ve all played the game ( all three pundits) and seen simulation in the game… He was just happy to see two teams go at it but the new woke sky had to interject. Im surprised the host didn’t take a knee when he pulled souness up on it

Graeme Souness has always been a very progressive and forward thinking man. This is just the usual do gooders and permanently outraged political correct zealots finding something innocuous to screech and moan about and try and force a good man out of his job.

Souness signed Mark Walters when he was Glasgow Rangers manager. Walters was one of the first black players to play in Scotland. A very brave move by both Souness and Walters as Walters was subjected to some horrific racial abuse by racist ‘fans’ of opposition teams in Scotland.

Souness of course was also the trailblazer in Glasgow Rangers signing Roman Catholics and made it clear from the day he was hired at Ibrox in 1986 that unwritten rule was a load of nonsense and that he would not be adhering to.

I never said he had an issue with Roman Catholics or black British people. He doesn’t like foreigners, particularly black foreigners

Signed just 36 years after Gil Heron was signed by Celtic…

Souness at Rangers was progressive for the time and dragged Rangers kicking and screaming into the modern age of football. He deserves credit for that.

But he has been veering into angry old man yelling at cloud territory for quite a while now and there does seem to be a pattern as regards players he targets and the “points” he’s making.

The problem with Souness saying “it’s a man’s game” and continually referring to “men” is not the bare words of what he said, but when he said it, when he repeated it, and the tone he used to say it in. It was the context. It was the context of him blatantly doing it to try and undermine a female colleague for no other reason than her being a woman.

Jimmy Hill was progressive for his time too but the older he got the more cranky, reactionary and embarrassing he got.

Sky have no problem with Newcastle being owned by Saudi Arabia.

It’s a funny old game.

Very jarring to read some fat little fucker on twtter call him ‘a dusty old footballer.’

What’s the relevance of your Glasgow Celtic early 1950’s piece of trivia to the current Graeme Souness debate?

This whole episode the past few days is surely a sign post for people being allowed free speech again without being ambushed. Fair play to him for going out and batting the following day too.

Bonkers how far we’ve gone. Scary when they change the complete meaning to suit their argument. Which is usually a non-arguement.

Great post.

The two games Souness was referencing just involved men. How is that an insult to anyone?

You’ll be bringing the split season zealots on to you with comments like that.

Souness was right… Sky made a huge deal out of him saying it’s a man’s game. They twisted the context of it, not him - he was merely saying how good it was to see two teams going at it, and he even included the bint in the convo…he clearly made a point of saying it again later tho. Coercing language is fascist. We should all stand up to it.

Its mental how it is even being discussed. There is a reason mens adult football has only being played by men.

The zealot do-gooders are mentally deranged.

The thing with all these left wing headbangers is that they will preach about free speech but only until you say something they disagree with.

100% , mate.

I’ve highlighted recently how RTE have gone with the player of the match schtick.

Absolute fuck acting. Who is taking offence to a man of the match in mens football or a woman of the match in ladies football.

A joke. Imagine being as easily offended as that and trying to live life. Mental.

If Sky gave that much of a fuck, they wouldn’t be televising Woman’s matches at 10am.

Why are yoy triggered by this

We need to introduce gender quotas in sports. That’ll sort the whole fucking lot out.
