I didnāt see the fights as I didnāt have Sky growing up but I always thought Steve Collins besting Eubank and Benn twice was a brilliant achievement which must have taken massive toughness.
Eubank near the end of his career when he was passed it and fighting light heavyweights . He got some hidings but showed awful guts . He was a hard fucker

He was hypnotised. Eubank was fighting a man who was mechanically altered.
I remember being taken to the pub for them. The local pubs used to be jammers for them and they were great fights. I used to always shout for Eubank and Benn as they were exotic and exciting, Collins was a pure brawler but mentally very tough.
Collins who was tough fought both Benn and eubank after they lost real edge due to tragedies in the ring

The same game as Larry Tompkins tore his medial and cruciate ligaments and played on for 20 minutes scoring two points, didnāt even go down for treatment lest he give the Meath lads a boost

Blatant dive to get a man sent off. Massive moment that dragged a once proud county into the gutter
Few better things than when somebody wins in an unfair playing field. Everything was stacked against maximus but he still prevailed.

Correct.
Derry decided to shaft and denigrate a good man like Mickey Moran because they couldnāt get over a 13 man Tyrone. They tried to bully Canavan off the field that day but when they didnāt succeed they threw the towel in and their manager under the bus.
Derry never recovered from that. Canavan solidified himself as the greatest player to play the game.
He took a blatant dive that day to get mccusker sent off. Shame really as he had the makings of a great footballer.
Eubank (or Eubanks as Collins called him) remarked later about the first fight. It was like Collins was an Alsatian on a leash and was let go when the first bell went. Not so much boxing ability but an animal.

I remember reading at the time that Eubank deliberately mispronounced his name āCollingsā as a sign of disrespect to get under Collins skin.
Collins riposte was to pronounce Eubanks instead of Eubank.
What was heroic about that?
