There are time’s when I look at the younger generation coming up behind me and I think civilisation is fucked. Then I see something like this and realise we’re going to be ok.
Four and a half years is just about the right amount of time between posting covers performed by Tool.
Tool - You Lied (Peach cover)
That’s her own song,
Valerie is an extraordinary cover, far superior to the (also excellent) original.
She was something else
That album is incredible from start to finish,
That d as sonic youth one got a lot of attention, was popular in indie clubs at the time,
I loved Babes in Toyland version of calling occupants,
American music club did a super version of goodbye to love, it founded like their own song
Calling Occupants was itself a cover by the Carpenters
The smashing tunes discussion brought me to this, it’s one of my favourite Pixies songs
Winterlong- Cover of Neil Young, but this is way better
They covered Head On as well by Jesus and Mary Chain. The original is a longer song and very good but Pixies squash it down to 2 mins 10 and rock it up,
And Cecelia Ann as well. It’s quite similar to the original but still a brilliant rocker.
That cover of Head On is great
Was never a lover of this song til this autoplayed in my Spotify. Always found it too maudling but Shane captures that and uses it
He makes a very decent fist of it, but you nailed it with maudling. Shocking.
Indeed.
File under ‘Grace’ also.
