Would have thought that bringing Cathal Mannion into the attack for a few mins in the second half was worth a try. He wasn’t doing much in his deep role and when we do score the odd goal he has often been the provider. Concannon was a poor foil for Whelan yesterday.

I wonder how good Cathal is at taking direction? He plays the game like he is constantly pissed off, his attitude doesn’t look good at all for delivering a performance - there are few hurlers in the country over the past few years getting less from the talent they have than him. When Glennon came on Shefflin called Mannion over and looked to me that he told him to go in full forward, which was an obvious move to make. Mannion went in for 1 attack and was out around the middle again for the rest of the game, made no real sense.

It seemed like they were trying to get him the ball to be the one distributing from deep, but it didn’t happen enough, it didn’t seem like he was getting up & down the field and I don’t know that the deliveries were even that good when he did play them in.
