What was his name? Was it yer man from Tipp?
Seamus Aldridge. He might have served as Kildare Co. Chairman for years afterwards
The worst part was that he was standing stationary pointing for a free with his back to Sheehy.
Sheehy could have stolen five yards for all he knew.
Was he still there in the early 90s?
That was John Moloney (rip). An utter gent.
Sheehy was too honourable for that
That’s the man I was thinking of. Shared a house with his son years back.
And 1 of the great refs, did he ref finals in hurling and football?
Think something like four football and one hurling. Open to correction.
Cathal?
Tommy Howard deserves a mention
Dublin supporters seem to have a nawful issue with referees and authority. Well, until they took over both.
No issue with Tommy Howard. Dublin were probably the better team in all 4 games v Meath
That was an incredible group of players on that Meath team - they just refused to die. They were incredible…
I thought Tommy Howard was sound. It was probably a bad decision from the GAA to have the same guy referee all 4 matches. I think since then the policy has been different referee for replays
Are replays even a thing anymore?
