Green Shoots - How Michael Noonan ended the recession

That mention brought just one image to my mind … Pallas = Mordor

I hope Irish shipping and logisitcs in general will be able to keep up with our mass export of greyhounds and horses to China.

I wouldn’t foist the vicious Limousin on the English, never mind the Chinese TC mate.

This Chinese idea seems utterly bizarre and the most concerning thing is no Chinese companies have signed up for it yet, let’s hope it’s being privately invested. Regarding the Chinese buying Foynes port, that is fantastic news. We need to create more links with the go-getters in China and preferably we sell them the country altogther and they can run it properly.

Could be a much needed chink of light in this awful recession.

you have no recollection of the recent visits by chinese diplomats or kenny going to china?

If it involves completely demolishing Athlone and rebuilding (and preferably renaming it and wiping any reference to Athlone from the history books for all eternity) then its a great plan altogether.

Great to see Ruairi O’Bradaigh and Daithi O’Conaill’s masterplan coming to fruition.

Years ago when there were some people on the farmyard who could actually write literate stuff somebody came up with a classic post describing what a shithole Athlone was. I’m pretty sure Cahill deleted it. Quelle surprise.

Its no great surprise that the bould Leeaaam has a love for Athlone. Sure some of the photobucket images were of Athlone at dawn.

??

Don’t worry about it mate, not comething you’d concern yourself about.

There are at least 3 choppers in the sky here as I look out on Ballybrit. They have been coming and going since about 12.30pm.

I see Gerry Chawke is re-opening Searsons…

Just did some work on the following projects
well known company building a warehouse to increase distribution approx 3000 sq ms with a capacity of between 3000 and 4000 pallets

company in cork city (multinational) increasing distribution capacity by about 2500 pallet positions

food company i know of had some very expensive gravity flow racking that they had to dismantle because the flow of product through their building was so fast that they simply didnt have time to put the goods on pallets before shipping

did some work for a large foreign document storage company who recently bought a customer of mine out

i have fitters starting work next week on the next phase of a revamp and expansion of a company in the drainage and filtration industry.

lots going on in my view. people have gotten to the point where they are getting over their fears and are making investment decisions based entirely on how their business is operating and pushing aside irrational fears over what might happen

time to stop watching prime time vincent browne and other admittedly excellent but depressing shows and just get on with things

this whole thing is a load of sh1te i imagine. a ploy to boost property values in the midlands and no more. if it was a serious project it would be located near raheen industrial estate giving a real counterbalance to dublin in the midwest and easy access to shannon and foynes plus providing a push to redevelop the cork limerick road which is a disgrace

+1 pal.

What line of business are you in?

is that really irrational ?..to me it sounds like you just summed up the celtic tiger era…nobody planned for the rainy day…how does a company know whats going to happen in the future?..

Eh? How does a company ever know what’s going to happen in the future? Calculated decisions are made, mostly generated by internal departments and professional advice. the point paedo97 is trying to make is that companies are no longer constricted by total fear that the economy is going to collapse and are beginning to be a bit more ballsy with their business ideas which in turn is creating employment a. Maybe some of the economists and accountant heads on here can tell us how they find businesses and the general economy are developing in the past year or so but to my rather amateur knowledge it does seem to be growing anyway - in certain industries at least. I’ve had a couple of jobs offers over the last number of months without even looking for work so it would be my opinion that the economy is coming out of recession, although at a pretty slow pace. I think most companies will be a lot more cautious now with their approaches but some see good market opportunities and are progressing with that - the very best of luck to them.
