Greyhounds Matters 🐐 - Supporting Rural Ireland

There are no pictures included on the online edition. I can’t scan the photo as I don’t currently have a hard copy of the edition in question as I read it for free in my local joe rook. However the joes don’t close until 9.30 tonight I’d say even in the absence of evening racing so there’s still time to catch a glimpse.

A small gathering of protestors outside Harold’s X tonight displaying banners with a catchy little slogan. Something like - “You bet, they die”

What’s that all about now?

Harmless high-jinks.

The usual crusties that Dublin churns out from time to time. Nought better to do.

From their slogans you’d swear that the lads were running an illegal dog fighting competition inside.

These idiots and other fools who stop me on the street and try to talk me into becoming a vegetarian would put ire on your bollox

Complete fairies. If they’d their way, hitting a hedgehog driving home from work would be a homicide.

Some good racing from Nottingham tonight, all open races, live on Sky Sports from 7.30pm. The highlight of the night promises to be the Betfred Stakes final over 500m at 9.45pm, featuring the likes of Bandicoot Tipoki, Fear Zafonic, Crown Rover, Farloe Reason, Windy Millar and Cabra Boss. It’s hard to look beyond the Charlie Lister pair out of traps 1 & 2 and i’ll have my money on the Bandicoot in this one.

The favourite there from the first race, Droopy’s Taffy (Trap 6), was available at 7/4 this morning supposedly. The boys presenting were giving out like mad, i’m not sure on whose side they were. They were saying that because trap 5 ended up vacant later in the day that anyone who backed the favourite at 7/4 earlier would only be getting SP now and that some of the bookies on the track were now 1/4 on the favourite (though he officially SP’d at 4/6). Is this the case or would you not get the price you took at the time? Is there a rule in dog racing similiar to a Rule 4 in horse racing?

I chanced Cabra in the big one, could be a bit of trouble inside surely?

I was thinking he’s a big price alright, at least was a big price anyway at 8/1. What did you get him at? He’ll require trouble inside to win you’d imagine.

Some right good dogs in there but surely Farloe Reason will cause trouble and Tipoki won’t like it in there, Miller may well be tardy at the boxes leaving Cabra Boss to pick up the cheque. That’s the plan anyway… Good contest though.

I’m looking forward to it, it is indeed a serious contest. I’m a big fan of Bandicoot Tipoki but Fear Zafonic on his outside could spell trouble. You could make a solid claim for probably five of the dogs in the race.

Nothing tardy about Windy Millar tonight as he pinged the boxes and held on from Farloe Reason back in second.

The numbskulls Bandicoot and Zafonic crashed into each other after trapping.

I was on Windy big for the Derby, his shock exit left me reeling. His fractions said he could have won it.

The Irish Greyhound Derby resumes tonight.

Is there anywhere to watch it live online besides having to do a bet with Powers? How much would you have to bet online per race to watch this sporting extravaganza?

College Causeway beats Shaneboy Lee in the first quater-final of the night.

There goes the first leg of my lucky15.

You shouldn’t have backed against D’Causeway :guns:

Especially not considering what i told you i heard a few weeks ago. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought he’d peaked too early, and in any event he doesn’t break well and he could have found trouble in running. I thought Shaneboy was value at 5/2.

Cashen Legend wins the second quarter-final with Slip the Lark in second.

That’s the second leg of my lucky15 up, i backed the legend earlier at a very saucy 12/1. :guns:

In the third quater-final, Oran Classic beat Faypoint Man. Something of a surprise in that one, though it did seem open looking to me.
