Greyhounds Matters 🐐 - Supporting Rural Ireland
25/1 on CC? Who laid you that? That was a savage price. Fancy him big time for the final myself, think he’ll blow them away.
Laid by the sponsor on the 23rd of March 2009 miley. Hammered teh 5/4 again on Saturday. Happy days.

Oh and dunph, I told you 5/4 was a great price, hope you enjoyed the ā€˜value’ you had from trap 1.

But, what a fooking dog, that is the greatest run I have ever seen, to come from where he did was quiet unbelievable. He could have a right duel with corporate attack in the ladbrokes 600 !
I’ve looking at some of the results achieved by Crash.

It seems he ran 525 races in 26.68, 26.83 and 27.35.

I thought times like 28.10 and say 28.20 would be extremely good over this distance and would win alot of open races. Is this right?
Anyone able to answer this for me?

Crash? Crash is a stud dog. Do you mean a dog by Crash or something?

Crash when he was racing, look at his times over 525 such as on 20th July 04, 13th April o4. I didn’t think these times had been achieved?

as far as i know the track where that record was set is a huge circuit and the 480m trip is only over 2 bends, so they are able to run flat out for the full lot of it.

So it’s not a standard 4 bend 525? But sure then they’re not comparing like with like. This shouldn’t be allowed.

They’re Australians. They do their own thing.

well it wouldn’t be comparable to a standard irish 525, most ozzie tracks are huge galloping circuits, the standard trip over there is more likely to be 520m, but even if you look at irish tracks, limerick is probably more 1 second faster than Kilkenny at the moment, so it’s dangerous to just look at times and distances and trying to make the comparison there.

 flamin galaaahs

I’d do 525 in 26 seconds easy.

So what you’re saying is a dog will run one second faster over 525 in Limerick than what he would in Kilkenny?

How would you compare the likes of Thurles, Clonmel, Tralee, Lifford and Shelbournes with the above two so?

if you were genuine you might have a chance

All tracks have a grading Dunph. Look at these results from Limerick and you’ll see +.30 Fast under the ā€œGoingā€ section.

yeah although it’s not an exact science, some dogs will be naturally suiited to a tight track and others to a galloping one.

a rough guide would be as follows:

Take Thurles = 0 because it’s consistent enough and a tough enough trip
Limerick + 50/60
Cork + 50
Tralee +30
Clonmel +30
Lifford +20
Shelbourne +20 (has speeded up a bit lately so this could be +40 right now)
Youghal 0
Mullingar -20
Kilkenny - 40 (haven’t looked at kky results in a month or so, so it might have quickend up since the new track bedded in)
maybe some of the other lads would have differing opinons

So in these results the winner clocked 29.02 but because the track is considered faster than standard you should add 0.30 to every time meaning essentially he did roughly a 29.32?

Bingo

Dunph, have you ever been to a Dog track or even looked at a race card before?

Ha! Going by your questions and some of the dogs you tipped up for the Derby I’m surprised you know what a Greyhound even looks like

Sure every fool knew College Causeway was the best dog in the competition. I thought there was too great a chance that he might not get a clear run for me to take the 5/4. That’s why i sought out other alternatives. I suggested Belvedere Champ at a massive price as he was well drawn and was open to improvement. As it turns out i didn’t back any dog in the Derby (except CC in a failed accum).

I did however back Jemmy Doodlebeg at 6/1 in a single bet the last night.

The Saturday before that i backed Airport Pilot at 11/2 (failed).

The Saturday before that i backed Cashen Legend at 12/1.
