Greyhounds Matters 🐐 - Supporting Rural Ireland

I would like to congratulate all involved on the Greyhound Matters thread reaching 1000 posts.

:clap::clap::clap:

So will be poisitive today, there is a thaw down here, coursing has a chance this weekend…

I spotted two hares on my walk on Saturday. Will the coursing club pay the cost of me posting them up to Powerstown?

Expenses would certainly be looked after runt, just hand them over to your local coursing club after you catch them.

Did a bit of googling there after reading the Times article… found this, think its a website for the contingency igb… mad shit.

Cunt that banned Shannonsider from Greyhound-data (see post #33 of this thread) seems to be behind it.

Is the coursing in Clonmel likely to go ahead, what with the way the weather has been and all?

After losing 3 weeks of Trial stakes including the Christmas program being decimated, time is really running out for fellas looking to get a dog to Clonmel.

Coursing will go ahead ok… the current thaw and this weeks forecast, expect Borrisoleigh to go ahead thurs and friday and then Cork, Clonakilty, Sevenhouses and Templetuohy will go ahead the weekend.

Tradaree and East Donegal will not run at all, and Tubercurry Kilcreeven and Ballymena will decide where they are at this weekend.

In the derby so far we have 52 dogs qualified and 9 reserves. In the Oaks, we have 48 bitches qualified and 7 reserves.

The ICC have a meeting scheduled for Friday to review the situation, but if weather improves this week there will be no issue. However, if you win a TS this weekend or after you are heading to Clonmel with a big handicap. Saying that is I manage to win a TS this weekend I will be a happy man…

Would there be a chance of a fella picking up a trial stake this weekend handier than he would have at the original meeting as the dogs should be a bit more spread around?

not really, this weekend the draws have either stood from the original meeting or they were redrawn with 90% of the same dogs, this really is last chance saloon this weekend, and there are a few very good dogs still hoping to qualify (i dont have one of thise ones). Also a few that maybe bought for small money if they dont win this weekend, and will make very good all age dogs next year…

where advantage can be gained thsi weekend is if you were somehow able to gallop your dog over the last few weeks, as most lads could only walk dogs…

There’s been alot of auld column inches in the sporting press dedicated to coursing the last few weeks, not much room for the track man to manouevure but sure i read it all anyway…

Have we to get tickets for the national meeting in Clonmel or can one pay at the gate so to speak?

Great altogether and it’s about time.

Will you be attending the coursing old stock? I believe the Runt has room in the back of his Merc…

I am at fuck all else, sure we could get a camper van or the Askeaton boys could organise a Caravan

I believe there is only two weeks now to Clonmel so can people start making known their intentions?

Myself, i’ll probably head down on the Monday afternoon or at the latest Tuesday morning and stay till it concludes. I will possibly/probably stay in Clonmel for the few days.

I won`t make it down until Tuesday this year myself and will be staying in clonmel that night.

It’s quite tedious reading reams and reams of reports from all the various coursing meetings around the country, much more interesting reading the track reports, but maybe that’s just me.

Anyway, a couple of things:

Can we get some of ye experts on here to give us a run-down of the various competitiors at Clonmel in advance of the meeting.
Do we need tickets or can we pay at the gate?
I know a guy with a bitch that has qualified and he tells me with a bit of luck she’ll win the bitch stake. She’s supposed to be a serious bit of stuff.

A. I will leave one of the pro`s deal with the first part of you post
B. You pay at the gate
C. Most fellas have the same opinion of their dogs in Clonmel.

Every owner thinks his duck’s a swan.

The main competition is

  • The Derby

You also have the
-The Oaks

  • The Champion Stakes (All Age)
  • Champion Bitch Stakes (All Age)

And a couple of consolations for the dogs knocked out in the earlier rounds of the Derby and Oaks.
