Does he still sing that one about Rolling down to Dubbalin Town? That was some tune. He sings it lovely so he does.

He’s already played Carnegie Hall though.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

[QUOTE=“Dirty Hands Walter, post: 991750, member: 9”]Off to see Damo tonight. Delighted his hatred of greed and corporate culture doesn’t prevent him from playing a private gig for Bulmer’s as they launch their new Clonmel 1650 drink. Principles.

And we sing
Sing all our cares away
Yeah we live
To fight another day.

Bulmers are owned by the largest corporation in Scotland that isn’t a bank

Just bought a ticket for my first ever Damien Dempsey gig at Vicar Street on Saturday December 20th. Always kind of liked him but didn’t really know that much of his stuff, but I uploaded all his songs onto my MP3 player for my trip to Sydney and really got into them while out there, can’t believe I didn’t listen to him that much before that. Been learning some of his songs on guitar over the last few evenings. Can’t wait for the gig now.

Good man sid. Didnt know if he was playing but i am defo into this. Missed him recently in my local so this will make amends.

From my room in Donaghmede

I’m 'bout to kick all your asses

Stick your pink champagne and fuck your backstage passes

A warrior comin down the mountain at ya

A woodkern springin from the trees to catch ya,

I’m lickin my wounds in the wilderness

Prayin for the warmth of the sun’s kiss

My time will come

Your race is run

The throne’s rightly mine

You greedy swine.

Best Irish musician and songwriter of this generation, hands down.
Not to sound corny, but he is our modern day bard.

A warrior poet

Gerry Adams proclaiming his love for Damo on twitter

Damian Dempsey…a poor man’s Finbarr Furey.

Holy fucking shit. The man is a preacher. Last night was spiritual. I am a better man now.
@Sidney how did you get on?

Gig highlights in bullet point form please @Juhniallio.

  • The roar of the crowd when he came on stage and the first moment of collective unity through almighty love. It’s a savage anthem to start a show with.
  • The tears welling up in me during Chris and Stevie.
  • The guttural roar of the crowd in Colony before the last chorus after ‘your hate for them will chew ye up and spit you out’. The epitome of a Damo moment. The whole crowd in unison.
  • Personal favourites of Ghosts of overdoses and Canadian Geese.
  • Hansard made his usual appearance. Damo obviously loves the song revelation. That was a belter.
-The oul triangle was a lights up sing along, everyone belting away.
-And the finish of It’s all good. Pure adrenalin. Ten deep of sweat-dreanched strangers arm in arm. A warrior with the world in the palm of his hand a a crowd that would follow him anywhere.

Fucking hell, has Hansard forgotten the words to every other song? Everywhere you look he’s singing the Auld Triangle these days.
