Damien Dempseyâs Almighty Love has been nominated for the Choice Music Prize:
The thread of his own deserver will feature in tonights âOther Voicesâ on RTE 2 at 11 pm
Smashing. Is this the Derry version?
It is indeed.
Did anybody catch this programme in the end? Will check it out on the RTE Player if I receive positive feedback.
Damien Dempsey is playing the Iveagh Gardens on Sunday July 14th. Why not celebrate Wexford winning the Leinster Senior Football Final earlier that afternoon by heading to a summer outdoor Damo gig? This promises to be a splendid occasion.
Iâm going to see him in the Opera House Paddies day, not that sure about him but presume he will throw in some rebel songs for the day thatâs in it
I guarantee that this will be a better sing song than the one you lot had in that church on Christmas Day. Enjoy yourself.
Ah great, going to Springsteen the night after. Wonât be far off a weekend in Bondi Junction in terms of entertainment I hope

Iâve never seen an audience lay down their guard in such a way, that people will be randomly singing his songs out on the street afterward and it wonât seem strange. That during the show you will turn round to your fellow man and bellow a lyric in his face and heâll do the same to you and youâll smile and embrace. Damo is simply incredible. Heâs out there on his own.
The man is a genius. And heâs our genius. Weâre lucky people.
I was out in the car. I put Damo in and sang at the top of my voice for the entire journey. It was moving(not just the car) and uplifting. Looking forward to seeing him this year in Limerick and at the Iveagh Gardens. Thought about how sensational he was at christmas. And thought about this post from Thraw that should have been post of the year.
If everyone thought like Damo the world would be a better place. Make sure you see this fella.
+1
He is an outstanding live act.
I have been listening to Spraypaint Backalley every morning this week on the way to work. One of his finest tunes, just Damo and his guitar beating out a poignant tune

Have all his albums on shuffle all week. His rendition of the Rocky Rock to Dublin is among the best I have heard.

Tell me, do you dare to be free
Can we snatch victory
From to the jaws of these streets now,
When these walls they close in and your heart turns to tin
lets escape to the sea now,
I can see every face and the ghosts of this place
and they hand us the keys now
na na na, na na
I would just like to reiterate this point. It is magic:clap:
The definitive version for me.
Fought in the lane, lost in the lane
Swallowed the shame, then I fought again
Fought in the lane, cried in the lane, Swallowed the pain, then I fought again
Fell in the lane, got back up in the lane Died in the lane, and came alive again
What a feeble response from the CrowdâŚ
When he sang this in the Roisin Dubh in Galway, we nearly put the tide out with feedback we gave.
