Mrs Rocko cried when I first played Chris and Stevie on the car radio. Itās magnificent. Cannot wait to hear it live.
āOne day stevie he got bitten by a bug
He was captivated by the life of the thug
He felt a weakling and craved some power
But the thugs existance can soon turns sourā

What a night, what a gig, what a man!
Thereās no experience like it. Iāve never seen a performer inspire such devotion. Iāve never seen an audience lay down their guard in such a way, that people will be randomly singing his songs out on the street afterward and it wonāt seem strange. That during the show you will turn round to your fellow man and bellow a lyric in his face and heāll do the same to you and youāll smile and embrace. Damo is simply incredible. Heās out there on his own. Sinead OāConnor did backing vocals for a good number of songs and was Kirsty MacColl to Damoās Shane MacGowan for Fairytale of New York. Glen Hansard came on for Schooldayās Over.
Other highlights: Canadian Geese, Chris and Stevie, Itās All Goodā¦actually there wasnāt a bad tune all night. And as I said after the Button Factory show, itās amazing the great songs that he didnāt play, St. Patrickās Day, Spraypaint Backalley, Factories etc etc.
The man is a genius. And heās our genius. Weāre lucky people.

Ah that just sounds sensational.
Saw Damo in Galway the week before xmas. I was fcuked up with a flu the same night but I drugged myself up and headed in with herself. An epic night in fairness. Great live performer and creates a real cauldron of passion.
All that said, his current offering has some great songs but there are a few shiit efforts in there aswell that I find myself skipping overā¦ eg Born without hate, The Good and the Great, Moneyman, Your the cure. All pure muck.
I could possibly take or leave Moneyman, but the other three are all brilliant. Especially Youāre the Cure.
Epic tune, that one.
On a slightly unrelated topic. I was watching Father Ted last night and noticed Brian Eno made a cameo appearance. The episode with Buzz Cagney and the suicidal Father Kevin. He also regularly appears on Damo albums. Brian Eno is an alright sort.
