I think they tone it down when the league isn’t in the balance

I don’t.
String of dubious decisions for generations.
They tone it up if the league is in the balance.
I can’t understand it these days, as the SFA must hate them.

Aberdeen absolutely hate the huns. It’s lovely to see.

Huns hate Aberdeen just as much … ever since durrant got broke up I think

Predates that, but it didn’t help. 1980, a Hun nearly killed an Aberdeen player.

They must feel like they have to be blatant when the huns are losing late on.

Other times the refs manage the game very well from the start so the huns don’t get into that position. Deny the opposition obvious decisions when its level, yet give the huns loads of favourable decisions, ensure they get ahead, let them cheat/niggle/time waste as they deem fit, send off an opponent from time to time, award the huns a penalty to pad out the lead, then when the huns are 2 or 3 up belatedly give a couple of token late decisions to the opponent to try to create a perception of being fair, maybe even a soft consolation penalty to the opponent.

Thus any claims of bias are immediately warded off, as the hun dominant media hordes can straight away point to those late/immaterial decisions that went against them and call everyone paranoid and bitter. It’s not as subtle as they think, but they’ve been doing it for eternity.

I said on another thread lately that I don’t see VAR fixing it, as the VAR officials will be dirty cheating orange bastards too. That penalty tonight probably wouldn’t have been overturned by jocko VAR.

Anyway, fuck them. Great night for Celtic.

Exactly. There will be no pat on the back for Mr Beaton tonight. They’ll be wondering how he let the game get away from him. He’ll be studying the video to see how he might have avoided awarding the corner that Aberdeen scored from. Maybe an innocuous free in the middle of the park might have slowed things down.

Sure, it’s a smashing decision from him to just conjure up a penalty out of nowhere when it didn’t look on. But this flashy stuff is no good if you’re not controlling the game from the start. Don’t let these attacks develop and a clever referee won’t find himself chasing the game.

8 of the Huns games this season have had the bare minimum in them in terms of a draw or defeat. They have already had 6 or 7 huge decisions go in their favour already. They have probably got a good 10 points by way of dodgy decisions. They are an absolute rabble at the minute.

This is the type of season that reminds me of the season Dallas gave the Big Greek fanny a penalty at Tynecastle. Think they sneaked the league by the bare minimum on a whole raft of dodgy decisions when they were in bother.

The SFA will keep Rangers in the title chase through hell or high water.

Really dodgy hun penalties and/or opposition red cards when they’ve been behind in several games already.

What’s the penalty for/against count for Celtic and Rangers this year?

Rangers have a terrible disciplinary record in Europe but I think are a huge no of games without a red card domestically.

They have also received a huge number of retrospective red cards that the referee conveniently missed during the game.

There’s also a quirky stat where Celtic have twice as much possession as the opposition in Scotland yet “commit” twice as many fouls. That anomaly doesn’t translate to European games for some reason.

Just watched it delayed there, what a first half. Coupled with results elsewhere. What a night

I think there are some fairly startling stats around penalties awarded in old firm games.

So far I can think of this season I can think of:

McLaughlin not being sent off against Dundee, penalty awarded and saved by McLaughlin but only yellow card issued. Rangers won 1-0. Rangers +2 points
Porteous red card against Rangers while Hibs led 1-0. Rangers +3
Penalty awarded to Rangers against Aberdeen with Aberdeen winning. Rangers +1

As you said though it’s not the big decisions really, it’s a culmination of the small ones all game long that they get.

They are mince at the minute though, stumbling through games ably assisted by Scotland’s finest.

St Johnstone (A) 1-2
Motherwell (H) 1-1
Dundee (A) 0-1
Hibs (H) 2-1
Hearts (H) 1-1
St Mirren (A) 1-2
Aberdeen (H) 2-2

Only for Scotland’s finest they would be in deep doodoo here.

The amount of goals Celtic have conceded this season with no defender going and attacking the ball into the heart of the box… again last night …

A far cry from the amount we conceded in this manner last season tbf.
