@Fagan_ODowd took your tip today about the German Military cemetery in La Cambe. Very poignant and sobering place. Mostly kids buried in it, 18, 19 and 20. Started at the Airborne Museum in St Mere Eglise, then on to La Cambe then Omaha Beach via La Pointe du Hoc. In Bayeux now. It is fucking hot here.

Dingle booked for the food festival with a bunch of lads celebrating joint 50ths.
If we get the right result next weekend there could be load of lads walking down John St with their Arnotts chests out.

Thinking about taking the plunge with a ferry holiday next year and drive to a Eurocamp from Roscoff. Was advised to head further south than Brittany and go to this place, about 80kms south of Nantes. Anyone ever been? Itās about a four and a half hour drive from Roscoff but could easily break up that journey.

Itās not on the coast which would be a negative for me but looks grand. I stayed in a place called le littoral is about half an hour from that spot it was v nice. But as trackie said loads of nice sites closer to the ferryā¦weather is less guaranteed there tho

What we used to consider good weather was not āguaranteedā until you went very far south. Now that good weather could be heat plumes and 40 degree heat. And you could get 40 degree heat in Nantes ( On June 24, 2026, Nantes experienced a historic and severe heatwave, with temperatures reaching staggering highs of approximately 42.2Ā°C to 44Ā°C during the afternoon). That kind of heat in a mobile is no joke. If I was going to the continent in the summer now I wouldnāt venture that far from Brittany and Iād stay near the coast.

My āadvisorā said thereās too many English in Brittany and highly recommended this place. Could stopover somewhere on the drive down for a night and same on way back.
@Fagan_ODowd would be thinking of late May to avoid any heatwaves

If anything too many Irish!
There are literally thousands of campsites, very few poor ones. Wouldnāt get bogged down on one or the other
4 odd hours off the ferry isnāt a long drive that would need a night stopover.

The English who go to France certainly arenāt the worst of them but thereās never much anywhere
