Holiday destinations for the lone traveller

Thanks, yeah, that’s what I was going for.

Hope that helps, mate. I expect it does.
Keep your inane thoughts to yourself.
FAO of Basque separatists on the forum; would you recommend a holiday in the region? Anyone else ever venture there?

Myself and the good lady are mooting the idea of heading to Bordeaux or somewhere in the south of France before heading onwards to Biarritz after a few days and then into the Basque region.

I’m interested in places like San Sebastián, Bilbao and a few others. Not sure on how many days to spend in each town/area/city, quality of public transport etc. Any recommendations? Must dos and sees?

Tentatively planning to head in early summer and looking for advice and guidance. The helped I received on the “FAO of Il Bomber Destro, The Selfish Giant and the other Italians on TFK” ensured a splendid Tuscan vacation last summer. I hope similar assistance can be provided in this instance.
San Sebastian is meant to be much nicer than bilboa…and for high flier like yourself it has a shit load of Michelin star restaurants …

1 or 2 days will be plenty in Biarritz, pal. Its a very small town with not a huge amount to do there outside of surfing. You could drop into Philippe Bernat-Salles’ pub for a jar which you might enjoy. San Sebastian is beautiful and I would highly recommend you spend more time there than Biarritz. Montpellier is a nice city also-it has a large university so it’s a pretty lively town, depending on what time of year you go. Marseilles is fucking class but probably not the place to bring the missus. The south of France is probably my favourite place in the world and you will fucking love it, bro.

Be careful, pal. Early summer usually means Munster will be playing in a Beer Cup 1/4 or Semi Final in the South of France. Munster Rugby expert @dodgy-keeper will fill you in further.

Be careful not to include a Sunday night stay in Bilbao on your itinerary - entire place practically closes down early Sun evening, so you’d be goosed for something to do. Spend more time in San Sebastian - it’s beautiful, great eating in the Pinxtos bars (small tapas - you go from bar to bar having a drink and a plate or two at each), and has a great free music festival in Summer. Guggenheim is good in Bilbao
Saint Jean de Luz is also a lovely place to head to /stay over for a couple of nights.

Thanks, @Horsebox and @Arseboxin.

Anyone got experience of combining beach/sunshine and visiting Flornece/Siena over 10-14 days in July?
