Holiday destinations for the lone traveller

Slightly better than the Congo, but not quite as at the level of Nicaragua yet. That’s a ringing endorsement for the Emerald Isle.

El Chaltén…? Incredible place but calling it a city is a bit of a stretch. Cappamore for Lonely Planet #1 City Destination 2016…

Yes a peculiar a list. In the top 10, as well as Congo and Nicaragua you have Namibia and Serbia, more like top 10 places in the world you could get killed.

It’s like a list a fucking hipster would come up with.

Fuck cappamore, pick a village with a view, kilteely or nicker

Nickeragua’s already made the list - Lonely Planet’s #1 place in the world to catch a public crucifixion.

Anyone spent a decent period exploring either Czech Republic or Belgium thoroughly and not just for a weekend on the piss? Are they any use?

Off to Madrid in the morning. Any recommendations of place to see, eat etc.

Edinburgh next Thursday, 2 nights…recommendations please.

Just walk around the town and soak it all in, great place. Do the castle obviously. There’s an underground ghost tour they do which is supposed to be shit. I ate in a really small French restaurant the time i was there, if you’re into cuisine try it as the food was lovely there and didn’t cost a total bomb. It was in a central square and one of the Irish bars is on same row.

Anyone been to Philadelphia and if so what did they think of it?

It’s always sunny.

:clap:Just watched the D.E.N.N.I.S system episode 10 minutes ago.

Its not great to be honest, centre city, as they call it there, is ok, bit of history with independence hall and the rocky steps, which, at the end of the day, are just steps. Other than that standard US city, some ok pubs. Outside of the centre don’t dream of going to the rest of the city, bar the north west, unless you’re african american. Washington has a lot more to see and is more visitor oriented, and is only two hours down the road. If you have a car you can go to the jersey shore, which has some decent parts, or to amish country in lancaster county, but youd do most of philly in two days easily. Obviously go to an eagles game if possible.

Its rarely sunny, except in the summer when the humidity is horrendous.

FAO of Basque separatists on the forum; would you recommend a holiday in the region? Anyone else ever venture there?

Myself and the good lady are mooting the idea of heading to Bordeaux or somewhere in the south of France before heading onwards to Biarritz after a few days and then into the Basque region.

I’m interested in places like San Sebastián, Bilbao and a few others. Not sure on how many days to spend in each town/area/city, quality of public transport etc. Any recommendations? Must dos and sees?

Tentatively planning to head in early summer and looking for advice and guidance. The helped I received on the “FAO of Il Bomber Destro, The Selfish Giant and the other Italians on TFK” ensured a splendid Tuscan vacation last summer. I hope similar assistance can be provided in this instance.

I thought it might be but I wasn’t sure. I’m looking for information, not to be chastised for minor errors in a @Mac esque fashion. Now assist me or fuck off.

I met a Basque just on sat there, got irate when I said spanish -“I am not Spanish, I am from Basque Country!” In short, the basques are nuts, great craic though. Lovely area too.

Hope that helps, mate. I expect it does.

You’ll be glad to hear I no longer do that mate.

Drop @Sledgehammer a message and he’ll tell you all about that region.
