Holidays in Ireland thread (Laois is for prisoners)

We went from Limerick through the Burrren to Ailwee Caves and the Bird show. Took a spin into Ballyvaughan for a look before heading for Lahinch / Lehinch for the lunch. Had planned to spend time on the beach there but there was a no swim order going and a red flag. All the hippies and Clare Roasters were ignoring this and swimming in a load of bacteria.

We heading for that kids farm over by the Cliffs then which is very well run. Savage amount of land and activities. Kids delighted to feed the animals and savage views back in across the bay.

Onto Spanish Point then and put down a couple of hours on the beach there before getting some grub and heading back to Limerick.

In short, Limerick suffers from a lack of beach’s. And Clare folks and surfer hippies are dirty bastards.

Drive out to Lough Gur and storied Kilmallock.

The Nissan classic used to go up Corkscrew Hill

Any decent pubs in dalky that may be lax o the substantial meal?

Mungret park is good alright, a great facility to have in the neighbourhood

I’m in adare here at The Blue Door
very very good I must say

Go out to Grange/Lough Gur - See Ireland’s largest stone circle - megalithic tomb and walk around the lake veering to the right and up the back of the hill to get a great view of county Limerick.

the little one enjoyed charleville so much that she was bawling her eyes out on the way home.

With end of Summer looming and feeling the vitamin D storage bank a bit bare, headed off down to Wexford night before last once young fella had finished hurling training. Half-day of work and headed to the beach for the afternoon+evening then

First time I’d heard nevermind made a visit to Booley Bay and Duncannon. Nothing short of majestic. The views around there are incredible. Dunno how it isnt raved about more.

Beach itself was brilliant as well. I’d usually prefer a beach with a bit of waves but can forgo the waves given the surrounding scenery here.

First time having the pup off the leash in public too. Ran and dug herself to a standstill. Had to be carried off the beach, bate to the gate.

Top drawer outing, great time had by all.

Nice new kiddies playground in Lough Gur now as well, and a shop selling ice pops. Lovely fairy garden up on the high part, it’s a lovely spot

Charleville is Limerick in all but name

Havent been in about 5 years - but Limerick desperately undersells - or doesnt sell - it. … the largest stone circle in Ireland and with the history and lake as well — ffs.

“Come to Limerick and see some Shtones. In a square? No. A circle”

Your ignorance knows no bounds - it’s 4000 years old, lines up with solstice and is situated just beyond a lake which has as much history and wonderful scenery. … @EstebanSexface had a lovely spiritual awakening there with a dog and some druids not so long ago - The yanks would lap that shit up

There used to be a pub near by for lads like you to take a tic tok of their pint for likes on the internet — not sure it’s still there @backinatracksuit? - Lovely Guinness in there when I was there last…

Do Holycross still play ball in that sloped pitch nearby?

The Red Cellar. Long gone. Riordans at the cross is still there next to the soccer pitch.
