Holidays in Ireland thread (Laois is for prisoners)

Apologies. I should have. Although a man of your intellect and worldliness should have known we’d need it…
I wont hold a grudge.

Just the 72* holes of golf available in portmarnock at the moment. No wonder you can’t buy a house there…

You wouldn’t believe how relieved I am with this news……:cold_sweat:

Hopefully you’ll find something. Don’t forget to extend my good wishes to the birthday boy…

@Juhniallio there’s a grand Hilton hotel and golf course up in templePatrick near Antrim if you’re brave enough

Ta for all the help lads. And @Chancer in particular… a lovely bed of options there for tfkers in the future. It seems we have a winner. Fota Island being locked in as i type apparently. Will run a sweepstakes in the run up to it on how many times over the stay I hear from Carkies that Fota is better than dublin zoo…

In fairness Clon isn’t a bad spot. Would probably make the top 20 towns in Cork

Had a grand overnight in Derry there yesterday. Walked some of walls. The walled city is very nice, also buzzing with tourists. Did the Museum of Free Derry walking tour. Our guide, Noel, had been caught up in the events of Bloody Sunday so that lent proceedings an authenticity that you don’t get when you have a teenage tour guide reading a script. Finished the day with a couple of nice pints and a good meal at the hotel.
Derry is a recommend

Im thinking of bringing Mrs Barnes up for a weekend. What hotel did u stay in?

Shipquay Hotel. Would recommend. Only downside is there is no parking. But there is a public car park two minutes walk down the hill at the Guildhall. Hot tip - download the RingGo parking app as the pay machines don’t take cards and you may not have the relevant coins.
I believe the Bishopsgate hotel is also very good and there is a Maldron if you fancy playing safe.

It’s a great city—I was there a few years ago. The people were incredibly friendly, and the nightlife was top class. Peadar O’Donnell’s is a brilliant spot for trad, with The Gweedore and Tracy’s as two more great pubs right beside it.

We also took a quick trip out to the Inishowen Peninsula to see Malin Head, which I’d highly recommend. Five Finger Strand makes a lovely stop along the way to Malin.
