I donât think it is the responsibilty or an obligation of the owners of that building to provide housing for anyone. They have obviously gone through a process and obtained planning and legally ended the tenancies of the previous inhabitants.
I imagine their point is that there are derelict buildings lying vacant during a housing crisis. Landlords are using this to inflate their value which is their right. The protestors are saying derelict buildings should be subject to CPO which is within the govermentâs remit. Occupying an empty house is not causing any hassle for anyone, as opposed to taking over an office full of people getting on with their days work.
I donât think that is likely to happen. Pat O Donnell has been exposed as a slum landlord. People are talking about it. The Protestors have already succeeded in their main objective and fair play to them
The owners of the building have obtained planning for an office development. I assume the ended the tenancies of the occupants because they now intend to develop it.
Huh? They bought the building two years ago, I would imagine with a view to developing it, which they are now proceeding with.
The protestors should be occupying the planning offices.
this is not a derelict building, the piece clearly says the owner has taken ownership in the past 2 years and in that time has removed paople from some very very poor living conditions and has plans and approval to develop the building into offices.
there will be work i suspect in the construction process and then office space made available in some shithole area of the inner city where most residents wont work to warm themselves.
The ODonnells are to be commended here, not targeted and abused.
POD owns the property. He can lodge a planning application if he wants.
Whatâs stopping all these freeloaders fucking off out of the Dublin Market? Rent is far cheaper elsewhere, itâs not like the cunts have jobs to be going to.
