Thatâs dumb. Who is ever going to do charity work then? Anyway, a lot of charities will have separate streams of funding for salaries than for their other activities.
Probably because they other shelters donât give a fuck where as in this one they do because they are not in it for money.
He nearly lost his keys one night. And it was a bit chilly.
Locked out while locked.
Nearly locked out.
Should Glen Hansard be State executed? I think so.
Youâre striking at the very heart of the problem with loads of charities. A load of fantastic work often based on volunteers giving their all. But if a charity wants to be really effective, particularly at something as complicated as housing then you need skilled dedicated people. Theyâre running a business Ffs sake. For a business as big as the Peter McVerry trust youâd want decent highly capable people.
People who give a shit about the charities cause. I know folks who have set up a charity and no one takes a penny from it. All the money goes back into the charity.
I suppose you think Angela Kerins, Frank flannery and Paul Kelly are great people.
Is there a hint there if being anti McVerry? I worship that bloke.
Youâve your head up your (and youâre an) arse if you think charities can be run solely by volunteers.
Should a charity be dealing with housing . I am far from a socialist but the state should be proactive in this area .
No. Your thoughts are wrong.
Yes they should. But theyâre not. Successive governments have been found completely wanting on this front.
Bressie will be distraught he never played the homelessness card⌠Iâve no doubt he will stage a dirty protest in the new year to save the depressed homeless now that Glen and the lads have saved the happy homeless.
I assume Mulligan!s are the real winners here ???
No I donât. If you are involved in a charity and asking the public for money then no one in thay charity should be on 90k a year. If they are then that tells me the charity has plenty of money if they can pay wages like that.
Instead all I hear is that they havenât a pot to piss in.
Fair enough. Thatâs your opinion on it. As we all know from the media, 90k is well below some of the salaries on offer to top brass in many charities. The Peter McVerry trust is long established and a very respected action group in the area of homelessness. They use a huge amount of volunteers and are one of the best lobby groups while actively affecting change in this area. I donât know what more you can ask for in this area. Again It seems you think homelessness is a simple problem and that a load of fellas with goodwill and soup might be the deal where what is needed is highly skilled folk with legal training and an ability to negotiate policy. Massaging the symptoms/effects of homeless is very different from trying to affect actual change to underlying problems imo.
