Not to the same magnified extent ā€¦ but yes.

I hope you are right and that it is fixable.

If the vulture funds and private owners arenā€™t getting a ROI, as you said theyā€™ll fuck off out of it, in the main. Iā€™d like to see how this will affect inflation and interest rates.

Any attempt to fix this fucking absolute mess, at best will cause short term pain, at worst send the country into the dark ages.

And leaving the situation as it is and not tackling it has the country heading into the dark ages also.

An entire generation or two will end up spending all their lifeā€™s wages to fund rent or eventually a horrendously large mortgsge. All at the expense of quality time which would make our society better.

Legislation brought in in 2014 stipulated 10% was mandatory. Prior to that, there was a 20% allowance which was allowable to be bought off or traded with land in lieu of providing social housing.

thanks.

Itā€™s gone up big time in Galway in the past few years.

Austin Stack, writing to W.T Cosgrave, in 1921 - ''As you are aware, people reared in workhouses are no great acquisition to human society. As a rule, their highest aim is to live at the expense of the ratepayers. As a consequence, it would be a decided gain if they took it into their heads to emigrate. When abroad they are thrown onto their own responsibilities and have to work whether they like it or notā€.

The workhouse has been replaced by welfare.

Alright Aussie, what will we do with the unemployed.

Fuck them all off to London

he probably has to come back to sign on every week

Youā€™re coming across as increasingly unhinged on this thread mate.

He is saying welfare should be a safety net not a hammock .

Unless the hammock is unhinged .

Great post.

People destroyed paying rent and big mortgages has a huge knock on effect in society. All over the world. Is it a way to keep people distracted from an unfair system. Or just a natural result of that system?

This is really a consequence of migration to big cities in the western world .

Well that and foreign investment just buying land and houses. See in NZ there where you have to be a resident to buy property now. Our problem being landlords and politicians are the same. Large scale quality apartments is the immediate way ahead.

Iā€™m one of a few talking sense.

Inner City Helping Homeless put a post on social media about 7 kids sleeping in a Garda station. They didnā€™t know she would go viral and sheā€™d become the face of the crisis.
