Home Sweet Home - Apollo House Takeover

History will show you that most apartment blocks built in Ireland in the last 20 years are massively defective. Building more of these and building them higher doesn’t really solve anything.

“Fuck all Corporation Tax”

Fact Ireland collects a disproportionate amount of CT

What do you think they pay in personal taxes as well btw?

Would you socialize with the minimum wage shop workers from abroad too?

So you’re against apartments generally then and not just the location?

Or have you realised your stupidity yet and are moving onto another point?

Mac is a rare beast.

A good chunk of them are paying about 60-70% of their disposable income on rent though as they all want to live within walking distance of work. The Nama developers and funds who own all the apartments around Grand Canal Dock are creaming it off them

I’m against building a set of high rise apartment blocks on top of a train station. Do I need to draw you a diagram?

Paddy talks a good game, but behind it all is savage racist and stuck up, there is no way he is living in a development with social housing if he can avoid it, that is why it is a disaster, the council know it, the people who want houses know it, the developers know it

How are we ghettoising them?

You realize that the inner city Dublin, where many of these developments are proposed, has a disproportionate amount of social housing already?

There is no longer an option to do as you mentioned. The councils make the the decision. The one example of late is Bolands Mills, a couple of apartments that would do absolutely nothing for equality. The council decided to cash in and use the money for better purposes. In reality we have had county councilors blocking development at O’Devany Gardens. The real model for Dublin at the moment is the likes of Charlemount where there is social housing alongside private housing and the likes of Amazon.

It is beside a train station.

You say that it is full in the mornings.

Why do you think that is?

Would it because it’s a…in demand area? Wouldn’t it make sense to have more people living there therefore so that they can walk to work?

This seems difficult for your to wrap your head around.

You did fuck all you giant fanny @glasagusban

No one wants to see kids or adults on the street, pal.

There needs to be context though.

That Ballymore site at Connolly is a great location. There are already 3 massive private apartment developments within 100 yards of it that work very well. It’s well serviced by public transport - it’s on the bus, dart, LUAS and mainline rail. It’s within 2 minutes walk of NCI and 10 minutes walk of Trinity. It’s on the doorstep of a massive office complex. It’s ten minutes walk to the town centre and 10 minutes walk to the point. 10 minutes walk to the Abbey and 10 minutes to the BGE.

Was that the rave with drugs you needed a membership card for ?

That whole area is being transformed. New businesses opening up along Richmond Street including a lovely Mexican pantry while bearded boozers lament the GBS closing.

The problem so is ireland and irish building regulation. Not apartments which are a success worldwide

Did I?

I agree with that completely.
