Hotels In Ireland

Gorgeous and a lovely bit of history too.

I like Clon. Lived with a girl from there and made a few visits down. Would have no issue going back there, just have never been in the hotel, so for the money you want to be sure you are getting it right.

Never heard a bad word about Parknasilla and it’s been on the list a while.

View from hotel

Was down there in November couple of years ago @TreatyStones . You cant rent Kayaks at the hotel. If your family can spare you 2 or 3 hrs or you can bring them with you should you wish its stunning seeing the islands and exploring the different coves and inlets. Its majestic down there.

That looks class.
Actually did it in the Sneem Hotel years back. Got caught in the tide and it was a serious struggle to get them back into the cove at the back of the hotel.

Had kinda ruled that out given the time of year.

Derrynane beach spectacular too and its no distance even if its just for a stroll and a coffee.
Fuck it ive just convinced myself to try and get a deal to go back there.

There’s a boat @TreatyStones that goes across Kenmare Bay to a bar near Tuosist from Parknasilla; one of the cheapest pints in Ireland and a grand feed there too. Not too romantic I admit and maybe the boat is seasonal; I’m not sure

Are you talking the hotel itself or the scenery around it? Because it’s an apples and oranges comparison if you are talking about the scenery around the two.

Merely comparing Clonakilty to Kenmare, I’d rather spend an afternoon in Clon, or an evening in one of its pubs, Kenmare is too touristy and dead enough this time if the year except for some yanks, Clon is a better town.
I love Sneem in the summer, we’ve been there most years for a few nights. I’m very familiar with it.

It’s only my two cents, very different places in summer

Actually we’re in Kinsale at the moment @TreatyStones and it’s ideal for this time of year

That’s the pub that is right by a small harbour? Can’t recall the name. Some place on a summer’s evening. Boat is a good idea to save you driving.

I dunno about that. Ive stayed in clonakilty a heap of times and, aside from an amazing supervalu shop, ive never seen anything that makes it good. One or two nice pubs, thatd it. And a heap of people telling you what a wonderful town it is. Basically, clon is the equivalent of a lad in his 50s doing cocaine in a pub midweek…
We’ve always had good craic sa Neidìn.

Es are good, Es are good, @anon98850436.

I’ve said my piece now, no interest in an argument, November was my main criteria :man_shrugging:

Abbey island worth a look too if the tide is out

Yes lovely view of the Beara Peninsula in front of it. Probably not the time of year for that in fairness.

I think the lady that runs it is named Helen Moriarty. It has McCarthy over the door

Stayed there lately myself. It’s a nice base for the surrounding area and has a couple of good pubs but is lacking restaurants and food options

There are actually quite a few very decent places to eat in Clon (in my opinion)

Helen’s bar?
