Would you drink gin?

The bushes down the lane are heaving with them, but I couldn’t see myself ever drinking it.

I drink it neat alright. Lovely before dinner to cleanse the palette. The sloe gin is lovely at Christmas.

If you like fish, have a neat gin before hand. Great job.

Sloe gin is nothing like neat gin. It’s got a port like almondy finish.

You get the sloes around Dublin?

No. Waterford and picked a load in Kerry last month. Now a girl that has a patch out around Swords.

You’ll never see the like of that again.

Mudderagawd

When you see a D reg creeping slowly up the lane, you will know who is driving.

Mine are like that now. Actually there were more last week before the hedge cutter went up and down and over and back.

Fuck it, we must be in for a terrible winter.

Would you have an oul pot still yourself Fagan?

I’ve a load of the cunts too.

Was at my daughter’s gaa today and, low and behold, finally found a load of sloes.

I see a recipe above with quantity given for brown sugar. How much water is used to turn it into the syrup?

@Fagan_ODowd , chime in here too if you’ve anything to add.

Fuck them in the bin.

None. 350 g of sloes plus 250 g caster sugar plus 70cl gin.

Why?!

@LionelRitchie No water needed. By rights we are a bit early to the dance; first frost is the proper time to harvest the berries. Rinse them, wrap in a tea towel and bung them in the freezer for a couple of hours. Be perfect then.

That first frost thing went out with black and white tv. How many berries that are ripe in August will be on the bush by the time we have a frost. Climate change again.
