Tom Morrisey is my HOTY so far, he’s been consistently excellent all year. It’s between himself and Gillane for me and it’ll come down to the AIF performance unless TJ or Cody can somehow fashion a win for KK.
- Aaron Gillane
- Kyle Hayes
- Diarmúid Byrnes
- Tom Morrissey
- Shane O Donnell
- TJ Reid
- Eoin Cody
- Other (please state)
I’m adding a few out of courtesy here
Genuinely think he did enough to win it from a team knocked out in the semis and lost a Munster?
He was fantastic but can’t see it
Darragh o Donovan, especially after the OTB interview yesterday.
Jamesie O’Connor says Dan Morrissey.
Other (please state), is it here in the chat?
Damien Cahalane
If Aaron Gillane wins a 4th HOTY for Patrickswell in 6 years they will have to go away and win at least a Munster Club, no excuses.
The three county lads are possibly in their best place going into a club championship in a long time given all three have had much lighter campaigns than previous seasons.
The supporting cast still looks Weak enough tbf.
In terms of balance to a side, you couldnt possibly wish for a dominant half back, playmaker midfielder and classy inside forward too.
Three very different types of players and the fact two of them are 9/10 from frees is an added bonus.
Whoever escapes the bearpit of the Limerick championship has nothing left when it comes to the provincial series. You’re going head to head with fellow members of the greatest team of all time.
Did Gillanes free taking fall off a bit this year?
More misses than usual I’d have thought
Byrnes has the sweetest strike of a dead ball that I’ve ever seen
My thinking on reflection ref Hurling awards.
HOTY

All Stars
Nickie Quaid (Limerick),
Mikey Butler (Kilkenny), Dan Morrissey ( Limerick ), Barry Nash (Limerick),
Diarmaid Byrnes (Limerick), Richie Reid ( Kilkenny ), Kyle Hayes (Limerick),
Darragh O’Donovan (Limerick), Cathal Malone ( Clare ),
Tom Morrissey (Limerick), TJ Reid ( Kilkenny ). Shane O’Donnell (Clare),
Eoin Cody (Kilkenny) Aaron Gillane (Limerick), Conor Whelan (Galway).
Limerick will get 7 all stars max. Nicky and barry nash will lose out. William odonohue will get one
I’ve picked lads on what they did at the position.
WOD wouldn’t imo be ahead of DOD or Malone at MF.
Is two games at CB enough? Not for me.
I wouldn’t be Richie Reid’s biggest admirer but he had a fine year and his distribution led to plenty of scores.
I think Malone at MF deserves an award, bar the Semi Final he was exceptional. A real unsung hero for Clare all year
Malone was Clare’s second best and most consistent hurler behind Shane O’Donnell this year. I’d certainly have him ahead of Kelly, Fitz and Conlan if they are to get a 2nd gong.
Quaid.
Lawlor, D Morrissey, Nash
Byrnes, Conlon, Hayes
WOD & DOD
T Morrissey, TJ, SOD
E Cody, Gillane, Whelan.
Limerick had a cleansweep of league, Munster and All-Ireland - winning both national finals by a combined 20 points - so should get 9 at a minimum.
Limerick 9.
Kilkenny 3.
Clare 2.
Galway 1.
HOTY - Gillane.
Young hurler of the year - King Con if eligible.
And you can’t say fairer than that
Mike Casey & Peter Casey both unlucky to miss out.
A goal scoring CB will not be ignored for an Award
Agreed, that’s why I’ve Barry Nash in there.
