Hurler of the Year and All Stars debate

He got absolutely pocketed by Butler and was found hiding when Clare needed him most. It was O Donnell and Duggan who went out with a bang. Jesus almighty this isn’t up for debate lads he was useless.

He didn’t distribute any ball or assist on any scores? Or score himself?

Did you actually watch the match?

It’s bizarre.

It’s an agenda.

Message sent loud and clear from the King of the @limericks

He got one tap over point and popped a few passes off. Absolutely stunning contribution.

So apart from directly assisting in, I believe 1-5, scoring himself while playing as a midfielder for most of the game he did nothing in your view.

Have you ever watched a game of hurling?

1-5 my bollocks. Gway and don’t be annoying me.

Don’t argue with facts they’ll say it’s a crusade.

The idea he loses out on an all star because of that performance is crazy.

If TJ had a better final it would be very easy leave Kelly out, but he didn’t. Kelly was anonymous vs Kilkenny and poor enough in the second half of the Munster final, however I think he did enough in Munster and in the Dublin game to get in.

Supreme dispenser of joy, fucking hell.

Tom phelan probably done more than tj reid.

Of course he’s unreal. But he’s not a flawless deity. He underperforms in Croke Park.

He was outstanding in 2013 and pretty good in 2018 If my Memory serves me right.

He was poor last year tbf but he’s a difficult position. If he doesn’t have a worldie Clare will lose and teams know that.

1-13 from play in 5 games in Munster. Hard to take the Dublin game into account, many who believe Mark Rodgers should have gotten the MOTM that day and then 1 point v Kilkenny. Also, his free taking was terrible.

First half
One point from play
1 wide from play
One free win which he put wide
Direct assist to David Mc for a point

Second half
Direct assist for Rodgers, Galvin and Reidy scores from play
Played the pass which Reidy and Galvin won frees from.
Started the attacks which led to O’Donnell’s goal and David Fitz point by going back to his own 21 and winning breaks/dirty ball under pressure and distributing under pressure to Diarmuid Ryan in space.
Set up Duggan for a wide attempt just after half time.

16 possessions in total which led to 11 shots. Playing 45 minutes of the match in essence Ryan Taylor’s role.

By comparison - Mikey Butler had 5 possessions in total - one in the first minute when playing corner back on O’Donnell

Darragh O’Donovan was MOTM the day before in a dominant limerick performance had 13 possessions.

I thought Kelly worked his bollocks off v Kilkenny and hurled fairly well. It wasn’t a flashy performance by any means but he certainly wasn’t a passenger or hiding

The idea he doesn’t get an all star on the basis of this performance is total rubbish.

He drove a wide from 80 yards when galvin was free inside towards the end.

He isn’t as good as tj or lynch at making his teammates better

The discussion is about all stars here.

He’s surrounded by a weaker Support cast than lynch.

I would think though in a weaker team lynch would be more selfish and stand out more but he doesn’t have to with Limerick.

I dont give a fuck about all stars. Big mick failed to mention that glaring flaw in kellys second half display in his synopisis

This thread is about the all stars.
