Hurling 15 for 30

I actually think these would be more interesting if people chose teams from other counties, be interesting to see how players are perceived outside their own county.

Having said that:

If they played before or subsequently

Yeah. Forgot about him to be honest.

Fox but no Nicky.

Nicky misses cut for lack of impact after 1989 tbh. Fox while on the wane too was still far more effective than Nicky from what I saw.

Delaney probably a wild pick too but he was outstanding, in an era of more physical defenders he was a beautiful stick man also.

Delaney was a flaking player. Bit of cut to him too like.

Since early 90’s Tipp never had the pick of defenders compared to forwards. Even in lean times we’ve had a good pick of forwards but never as healthy defensively.

Delaney was way ahead of his time skills wise for the position.

Silky hurler too and a bit of stuff in him.

Agree re Fox over Nicky. Fox HOTY in 91 tips it for me

There was a period where we didn’t have great forwards in the early-mid 00s. Even John Carroll was a converted back (nothing unusual there, sure didn’t Fox play in the backs underage). John Devane, Hugh Maloney, Dimi Fitz all tried in the forwards at various stages

Back then I remember going to Limerick Tipp games and nobody was seriously worried about the damage Nicky would do. Fox on the other hand was lethal. We went through a period in the late 80 early 90s when we used to get serious hidings but that all changed …changed utterly in the second half of the league final of 92.

He probably played a bit senior in the backs as well.

Mount Sion team of the last 30 years. All county men.

How come Brian Flannery didn’t make the cut.

I didn’t realise ye made backs into forwards. In Limerick we make forwards into backs.

Good question. I will make an amendment. Wasn’t sure whether Ryanner hurled past 1990 anyway.

How long did Harris play for Sion. He was a Portlaw man originally?

When did Pat McGrath finish up?

A very impressive half-forward line.
