Harnedy hurler of the year. Kelly overrated IMO. Was anonymous for most of yesterday. Harnedy nearly pulled Cork back into the game by himself. Also Kelly is almost always a free man so it is easier for him to get free ball.

Anthony Nash Cork

Paul Murphy Kilkenny
Peter Kelly Dublin
David McInerney Clare

Brendan Bugler Clare
Liam Rushe Dublin
Gavin O Mahony Limerick

Daniel Kearney Cork
Colm Galvin Clare

Conal Keaney Dublin
Tony Kelly Clare
Seamus Harnedy Cork

Podge Collins Clare
Patrick Horgan Cork
Conor McGrath Clare

What’s all this Paul Murphy lark? Great corner back, but how much did he play? Was he not missing for a couple of games!

Shane O Donnell may have cost Shane O Neill full back but it depends on how they look at things. SON was at fault for one goal of the first 3. The other 2 you couldn’t blame him. McCarthy was awful for Clare’s goal in semi. But other than the goals SON had a massive year and played more and better hurling. Conor Sullivan is in with a great chance over Murphy. Don’t know about Kearney, he was nailed after semi but was up and down in finals and his distribution deteriorated over last 2 games. But midfield is hard to judge as guys were so in and out.

Fellas have very short memories not giving Collins YPOTY. Jesus he was unbelievable all season.

Nash
Conor Sull
David McInerney
Shane O Neill

Bugler
Rushe
Ryan

Galvin
Moran

Harnedy
Tony Kelly
Sutcliffe

Podge Collins
Pa Horgan
Conor McGrath

Nash and Harnedy for Cork, Keaney for Dublin, rest for Clare.

Shane O Neill shipped 4-3 on Saturday. However you dress it up it’s a lot of scores to concede.

That and the fact he should have been sent off in the first game makes it hard to pick him.

Agree on Murphy, spot on. Disagree on O’Neill. Agree completely on Collins, after the drawn game Collins would have got HOTY, goes to show the difference one game makes.

Walsh and Breen for Limerick are certs for me. Breen destroyed all, including Bugler who will most likely get an all star.

Well done lads.

I agree, it could have cost him an All Star, which would be a little unfair.

Are we picking who will get allstars or who should get allstars?
Two very different things.

Limerick will get an All-Star but should not.

Every contender in the full back line has a black mark against them.

Should not will:

Nash

Murphy
McInerney
O’Neill

Bugler
Rushe
Conor Ryan

Kelly
Donnellan

Harnedy
Keaney
Sutcliffe

Collins
Horgan
Colin Ryan

POTY:

  1. Horgan
  2. Kelly
  3. Collins
  4. Harnedy
  5. Nash

Richie McCarthy deserves an All-Star and has no black mark against him.

As for who should, thats about it for me.

As for who will, I doubt they’d give Dublin 3 and Limerick only 1. I’d say it’ll be Limerick 2 Dublin 2, Cork 5, Clare 6. Or something along those lines.

@Sidney, you’re normally correct but are miles off if you think any other full back is ahead of Richie Mc. I’m not being parochial here, he was better than the three other contenders in a year when there has been some excellent full back displays.

I think Wexford will be doing well to get 3. Eoin Moore and Mossy Waters are certs for right corner back and full back respectively. And we might squeeze Jack Guiney in for his goals against Dublin and Clare too. Pity Lee Chin didn’t get a full run at it too with his injuries and football commitments.

Tin hat on but is Nash actually a cert for in goals? He did concede five goals on Saturday, made a cock up with the late free and also missed a 21 and a penalty in the drawn match. When he did come up and blast home a few goals it was exciting and all that but I felt that it exaggerated his performances this year.

Kelly for Clare didn’t do much wrong, Quaid for Limerick was also fairly reliable - kept Limerick in it in the first half versus Tipp. I would have given it to Maguire for the Dubs but the goal against Cork and his mistake in that probably will cost him one.

I imagine traditionalists on the selection panel who lament the lack of overhead pulling in the modern game will push for Andrew Shore and Garrett Sinnott to be included.
