I thought you said I didnât see it?
Over the year Harnedy should have got a POTY nominee, ahead if Horgan I think. Consistency has to be rewarded.
It seems silly having 2 guys nominated for 2 awards. Surely it kinda defeats the purpose.
Will you ever stop trying to sneak cork lads in for soft awards, that era is over. They played in 3 finals, 4 including the relegation playoff and lost them all. There is a strong case for awarding a ref as an all star instead of a cork player
looking at some of the names on that list, Iâm reminded why i donât read the papers anymore.
from my own perspective, condon was the weakest member of the limerick FB line this year, although by no means playing badly
selecting mulcahy is just bizarre, if they wanted to throw a sop to limerick hannon would be the obvious choice, you could even get away with dowling for his munster final exploits.
just reinforces the notion that all stars are won in croke park and you really would have to question what level of understanding exists amongst most journalists
(honourable exceptions go to messrs oâconnor, oâgrady and mcevoy, even if heâs forever plagiarizing shannonsiderâs prose style)

Agree with that. Even Browne being nominated was surprising. He played well against Clare but wasnât as good as O Grady in either of the games in Munster. Mulcahy is a strange nomination, his poorest year for limerick thus far.
yep, I meant to make the same point regarding dodge, gave us the perfect start against tipp and one of the few to hit the ground running against cork while the result was still in doubt
probably made the best speech of the year too. if he retires, the print journos will be falling over themeselves to heap praise on him.
Mulcahy to his credit was the only player who beat his man against Clare and got an allstar nomination for it which is a joke considering he did nothing against Cork or Tipp,as said it must be the croke park factor.I think heâs still carrying a niggly injury he hasnât looked right for club and county this year.
I more or less gave up on the All Stars back in 1988 when Joe Cooney who was by some distance the best hurler in the country in the late 80âs lost out to Ciaran Barr. Brian Whelehans omission in 94 finished me off completely with them.
When did they get rid of that rule that you couldnât get an All Star if you were sent off during the course of the year?
When did they get rid of that rule that you couldnât get an All Star if you were sent off during the course of the year?
The controversy with Pat Fleury in 1984 hastened the end of that particular rule.
