Hurling Championship 2020 - The Year Limerick Blitzed

Bad result for limerick. Will have to beat Galway and Kilkenny now.

Sure only one team can win the All Ireland

But they weren’t a top team for a lot of that when he was full forward. The problem was he was often left in there with no ball for ages before finally a fucking hopeless floating effort came in while john Dalton hung out of him.

He was superb but they lost. They had no goal threat. He never went in to the full line.

Kilkenny would have put the foot on the throat at 6 up and put shefflin edge of the square for the killer goal in their prime

Tough going for the lad. Aaron Gillane’s uncle died sudden night before the Clare game, found out that morning. Cian Lynch buried his uncle today. Can’t be easy keep the focus on big games in such circumstances

When were they not a top team? They’ve been as good as anyone on their day basically for 10 years

Because of Joe mostly

Yep, aware of the two Limerick ones as well

It’s a testament to them as young lads to go out there after it. I’d expect Lynch to give it his all tomorrow in honour of his uncle

That was most likely the case either way sure. Have to win tomorrow first. But we will

If you want to be Champions you need to be able to beat them all

Galway were hit and miss from 2008 to 2016, a good year followed by a bad year. We have been consistently good since 2017, in no small part because Canning is more involved.

Eh, 2019?

2010 middling, could have beaten tipp when fat Eoin Kelly fouled Ollie in the corner.

2011 useless.

2012 lost a final, good not great team canning carried them especially in the semi v Cork

2013 worse than useless

2014 easily beaten by tipp, very poor team really.

Exactly. Get your best players on the ball as much as you can

That’s a good point, he’d need to be much more economical and ruthless than he was tonight though

He hit a blast of wides from good ball.

Whelan had the blinkers on tonight. Could have laid on 2 or 3 points to team mates but took low percentage shots instead. He won a pile of ball alright as he always does.

Or as close to the goal as you can.

Differing opinions. Validity in both. Galway were winning battles out the field and would have done without Joe.

They cant score goals. Joe would

An unlucky year, knocked out on scoring difference and two teams conspiring to manufacture a draw.

Whelan is a wonderful hurler , great first touch , strong and quick having become less bulkier but he still have a biggish swing meaning he needs a bit more room .
