Lot to be said for a cul de sac.

Iā€™ve attended six All-Ireland hurling finals since 2008 inclusive.

On three of those occasions (2008, 2011, 2014 draw) I bought tickets for half-price. On two other occasions (2013 replay and 2014 replay) I toddled up to the gate at Gillā€™s around 15 minutes prior to throw-in and had a ticket within two minutes. The other occasion (2010) it took me around eight minutes to source a ticket and this was supposedly the ā€œbiggest ticket famine of all-timeā€.

So, the famous line of youā€™ll always get a ticket is true. :open_mouth:

At an All-Ireland hurling final, youā€™ll always get a ticket and generally put a muldoon out of pocket, which is a nice bonus.

On the other hand, I tried and failed to get tickets on the day for the 2002, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2013 (for a family member, I had one myself) and 2014 All-Ireland football finals. Granted in some of those instances I wasnā€™t trying very hard, but the point holds - Gaelic football is BOX OFFICE.

Fixed that there for you chief

Gaelic football is a British army game with hurling rules applied to it. Itā€™s sad that people born on this island would rather an import than an indigenous game but there will always be others to keep our culture alive.

Thereā€™s nothing sad about it chief. Itā€™s just they havenā€™t the skill or awareness to play it to such a level.

Their loss pal.

Hurling is a beautiful game.

Itā€™s the greatest game on earth.

I hear Scotland is very nice this time of year. Enjoy the trip over

Yep

I am up in Dublin for the All Ireland.

I am surprised by the large quantity of spare tickets. I thought there would have been a bigger demand for tickets.

I heard of the lical Super Valu guy gling up with 12 tickets today, cannot get rid of them. A number of them were for a competition that nobody entered.

GAA is dead in Cork.

Would lads generally travel from cork to a final they are not in

I will head in tomorrow. Itā€™s an AI final so if I can go I will. Could be a great one but I think Tipp might win well.

KK will do the business mateā€¦Babs called it last night.

There would be. Tgere was a tradition in alot of clubs, especially ones populated with Kerrymen around the city & surrounding areas of sending tickets to Kerry and getting hurling in return. But you would always have a scramble for the 4 or 6 tickets our club got. Think it was 2 for the club and there was lads on other boards picking up a few as well. Tgere was even draws for them.

All gone now. I know since one lad passed on they have even sent the 2 for the club back a few times.
