Hurling League 2014

no its not, he just drove the ball aimlessly wide

Nigh on impossible describe how windy it was there, but heā€™s a 2 time winner of the Leinster poc fada and has a massive hit on him. Surprised they didnt move Willie to FF and use that more often in the second half. The loss of Foyle was felt as heā€™s a great ball winner in the air. Cork didnt impress me all that much tbh.

Agreed. An ego trip.

Just back from my beloved Walsh Park there now. Very pleased with what I saw. New manager is blooding some grand new players and they are trying very hard to play a nice brand of possession hurling. Most impressive was their work rate and eventually Galway just threw in the towel as they were driven to distraction with the hassle of it all, especially that geebag Tannion, who gave a masterclass in pointless fouling. All of our new boys played well, especially this chap Ryan Donnelly who looks like an intelligent type of hurler. Philip Mahony gave a great display at wing back and worryingly for Galway Seamus Prendergast destroyed the full back.

New Waterford selector Big Dan Shanahan is now sporting a hipster style beard and made an awful fucking eejit of himself with his incessant pitch incursions.

Waterford manager Derek McGrath has named an unchanged team for the Allianz NHL Division 1 clash with Dublin on March 9th.

Iā€™ve tipped Waterford as the dark horses , some lovely talent in their early 20s, they need a marquee forward but 1-9 they will be the best team in the championship in my view . Fagan whatā€™s mcgraths back round ?

Weā€™re gone now. No surprise that 15 isnā€™t anywhere near the best 6 teams in the country. Hidings from kk and tipp could fuck the year up.

In Parnell park Davy would have to be slightly worried by the lack of physicality and the fact Keaney destroyed mcinerney. At the other end Shane o donnell should have been hauled off at half time such was the roasting kelly gave him, but it was a quagmire, in Croker Iā€™m sure Clare will be different, but will have to figure out a plan if they come up against a team who are physical and can hurl.

Dublin were wound up to the last but are same as ever, physically big with fuck all hurling.

McGrath was a county hurler with a great future behind him. He was captain of the 1992 minor team as a 16 year old, leading them to the All Ireland final which they lost to Galway. He never developed as a senior, and only played one championship match coming on as a sub in the 1996 Munster championship game against Tipp in Walsh Park, a game that is a notable for two reasons. First it was the last championship game played in Walsh Park and second it was Ken McGraths debut.

He teaches English in De La Salle and coached the All Ireland winning teams from that school. He also managed De La Salle club. He is an avid sports psychologist.

Oh and heā€™s John Mullanes brother in law.

Nice pedigree , a talented player who didnā€™t make it often make great coaches

Many of them here in Clare, Paudi Butler (known more as inter county footballer ), John Allen, many more here in Clare but not managed at intercounty level yet(Donal Moloney , Gerry Oconnor )ā€¦Joey Carton closer to home for yourself etc
