Hurling League 2014

He did.
McGrath was a county hurler with a great future behind him. He was captain of the 1992 minor team as a 16 year old, leading them to the All Ireland final which they lost to Galway. He never developed as a senior, and only played one championship match coming on as a sub in the 1996 Munster championship game against Tipp in Walsh Park, a game that is a notable for two reasons. First it was the last championship game played in Walsh Park and second it was Ken McGraths debut.

He teaches English in De La Salle and coached the All Ireland winning teams from that school. He also managed De La Salle club. He is an avid sports psychologist.

Oh and heā€™s John Mullanes brother in law.
Did Austin Gleeson get a run today? Waterford have a rake of very good young lads in their squad. Stephen Bennett, Jake Dillon, Paudie Mahony, Fives etc - the players are there. Could be onto a good thing with McGrath in charge.

McGrath is very much an alright sort by all accounts. He used to be in and around De La Salle when I was there, think he used to practice frees down in the field. Not surprised he ended up teaching there

Dublin denied Clare space on a tight pitch and dominated them in the air. It wasnā€™t the first cousin of a championship match. Parnell Park is a good ground atmosphere-wise for these sorts of matches but itā€™s a terrible pitch for hurling.

No. Ozzie wasnā€™t even listed as a sub today. Kind of a day a youngster could get badly broken up.

Davy took care to make special mention that he could blame the pitch, but that he wasnā€™t going to blame the pitch. Davy is a gent.

In fairness youā€™d get better down your local park.

Not everywhere could look as immaculate as Portlaoise did last night. I hear Offaly havenā€™t got one decent pitch to play on right now.

Iā€™d ray Barry any relation to " lay lay " ?

If they played in Birr the crowds would come flooding back, or so Daithi says.

Poor ol Offaly, they suffer from worse bi location than Munster rugby

No. Ray Barry is from Lismore. Lay lay is from Passage. You couldnā€™t get two places further apart in the county.

Limerick will take Tipp out in the championship. That Tipp team has gone soft seriously soft. They just havenā€™t got the bottle.I see Limerick trashed Antrim today.Someone order the all ireland suits in Tony Connollys. And Waterford as usual continue to defy the critics.Itā€™s not a foregone conclusion that Cork will beat Waterford in the championship.

Sssshhh.

There will be no hiding for you in Lars Bar.

Quality listening on Sunday Sport today as Darren Frehill congratulated Colin Fennelly on his 3-4 scoring haul in the Kilkenny-Tipperary match.

Colin: ā€œThe lads put it on a plate for me for a few of ''em, it was their hard work - I was happy enough today to be the man to put the ball in the goal and put the ball over the bar today.ā€

Darren: "You need to tune in tonight to League Sunday this evening on RTE2, and see your third goal, an absolute belter and that one was made by yourself, as well, a terrific individual effort.

Colin (in an embarrassed, modest tone): ā€œThanks very much.ā€

Darren: A great comeback by Kilkenny, in fact it was a 16 point turnaround. What do you put that down to?

Colin: I supposeā€¦ the will to win, I suppose.

Darren: Well the message, clearly from Nowlan Park today is that Kilkenny are not going away.

Colin (in an embarrassed, modest tone):ā€œThanks very much.ā€

Are the Kilkenny lads just taking the piss with the media? I sometimes think that behind closed doors, they sit in armchairs drinking 90 year old brandy, discussing the relativism of Dostoevskyā€™s writings and then nominating one of their ilk to face the meeja, running a sweep on who can say ā€œI supposeā€ the most times in an interview. Thereā€™s probably some incredibly deep, subliminal messages in what they say to the meeja which none of us have the IQ to figure out, but they find tremendously funny.

Nah, they are just deeply retarded human beings.

Ryan Oā€™Dwyer was on as well. He was asked the reason for the turnaround over the week after losing to Galway. He said ā€œIf I knew the answer to that, Iā€™d be a millionaire!ā€

ā€œThe young lads are really driving us on, I supposeā€
