Hurling League 2018

I’m not quite sure you understand the irony of criticising somebody for “over analysing the league” and then launching into a long post about the league and how it relates to championship prospects.

The difference was that unlike your post, @johnnysachs’ one was well written and showed a genuine knowledge of teams and players.

I particularly enjoyed the bit of your post where you said Clare had a “very logical and science tific (sic) approach to recovery, selection and conditioning”, despite having just said that “they could potentially be in tatters by the end of Munster”.

First analysis that factored in the sequencing, which is important. I hope it won’t be that important, if limerick somehow catch fire and beat tipp on the first day there’ll be no stopping us (until a semi final).

Because they have a small squad in terms of quality.

  1. There is basing league view on results. Fools game.

  2. There is basing league view on patterns of play, management talk, new tactics, skill development etc.

You see the hurler on the ditch will find it harder to see no. 2

And that’s all you are

I pay absolutely no attention to Corks league form, they’re not equipped for winter hurling and clearly haven’t overexerted themselves. I have some faith in Meyler, I like what I hear when he opens his mouth, I’d say he’s the kind of fella that you’d perform for,
I still think we’re ahead of Clare and Limerick and I wouldn’t fear Waterford in the slightest. Time will tell but it’s been shadowboxing till now.

Anyone mentioning a teams potential in the Championship based on the League is extremely Dimwitted. cc Kev.

Eh, I haven’t claimed to have watched a huge amount of the hurling league to date, pal - although I’d wager I’ve still seen more of it than you have.

It was pretty clear to me from reading both posts that @johnnysachs actually has seen a good amount of it, because he was able to go into specifics and actual analysis about teams, and I felt I had learned a little bit by reading it, whereas your post, as usual, had nothing to offer except a load of badly written spoofery.

Winning the league didnt do Galway any harm last year pal?

I personally think it is Tipperary and any other team from there. Limerick are definitely improving, way bigger, way stronger and the work rate is the best I have seen for years. I think we will beat Waterford at home, we are well capable of beating Cork away and the Clare game for me will be a 50-50. I think Waterford are a busted flush.

Cork will finish bottom in Munster. They are absolutely useless. Fitzgibbonn is their only decent player.

I watch the games. I form an opinion.

I do not need to validate it with a load of specific to sound like I know what I am talking about.
My history of predictions is enough for that

He has no clue

Kinda agree.
I would say you are right about Myler.

However the players did not want him.

So if anything goes wrong it’s his fault.

And then it’s all over

It isn’t really, you get it right more often than not but badly wrong too sometimes, no more than anyone else. I like that you generally give specifics and reasons for your preferences for teams though and you’re generally well informed.

From a Limerick perspective, I’d love to see us give the league a right rattle which would build a bit of momentum.

In 2013 Clare v Cork were in the relegation playoff they met in the All final in September. Galway are in 1B All Ireland champions Waterford won 2015 league Clare 2016. Only fools take the league seriously

I don’t think any team will be whitewashed and there could be some surprise results.

Personally, based on the premise that they don’t have a particularly strong squad, my perception that they were somewhat riding the crest of an unexpected wave last year which might not occur again, managerial changes and their league form, I think Cork look vulnerable.

The new Pairc Ui Chaoimh could even be a factor - it’s still very new and the Cork players haven’t had a whole lot of time to get used to it, visiting teams will raise their game from playing there, the surface is poor, and round robin matches there are unlikely to sell out, meaning that there will not be a huge intimidation factor.

Limerick have the same problem with the Gaelic Grounds as unless it is full it is not an intimidating home venue in the way Cusack Park can be.

Walsh Park could prove be an intimidating venue but Waterford haven’t played a championship match there since 1996 and it’ll be a new experience for their players to have to play home and away championship matches as they have almost exclusively played their matches at neutral venues up to this.

In the general scheme of things, I expect the format will suit Galway most of all - They should be able to play themselves nicely into the championship without having to show their full hand, and be able to peak for late July/August, whereas Munster will be dog eat dog, and that’s why I fancy them to retain the All-Ireland.

@Sidney Would you ever fuck back to the rape thread you haven’t a notion about the game bar copying and pasting bits and pieces from elsewhere, you wouldn’t know a hurley if I wore it across your double chins you spoofing cunt.
