Hurling League 2018

A training session.

Clare and limerick cork Waterford are better then Wexford

Galway fella en route to Kilkenny.

Wexford omg :astonished: bad

They will do well to beat Offaly

They were flying it in March, hopping off the ground they were

Munster hurling you can’t beat pity kk and Galway

They blew us out of it in contested ground balls*.

I just watched it again there. Rory O’Connor is a great talent. Plenty didn’t come off for him today, but he still stuck over 4 from play and the vast majority of his frees. His missed 21 yard free from straight in front of the posts at 2-9 to 1-15 shocked me to the core though.

We didn’t score from play in the first half. Brutal. Our list of scorers was indicative of us being dominated. Aside from O’Connor’s 0-12 (0-8F), we just had Nolan’s penalty, McDonald’s 1-1 and a couple of late points from Shaun Murphy and Harry Kehoe. There was none of the usual forays forward for scores from the wing backs and Kevin Foley was held scoreless too after chipping in with 2 or 3 in the games to date. No contributions from Chin or Morris either and David Dunne was subdued when he came on.

Apart from the enforced Devereux substitution, we didn’t make another sub until the 50th minute. I’ve heard it whispered that Davy doesn’t think the squad depth is good enough. We could have had all six subs on after 55 minutes today based on how it was going, but only used four with Dunbar the last on after 69 minutes.

They’ve definitely given us loads to think about. Breen on Reid and O’Hanlon on W Walsh worked well last year in league and championship but Breen is gone this season. O’Hanlon on Reid didn’t really work at all and the other Kilkenny forwards either edged or won their individual battles.

It was disappointing to get back to 3 behind early in the second half with a gale behind us and then be outscored 0-12 to 0-6 from there to the finish.

*I refuse to use the more commonly used term taken from rubby.

Munster is hurling Joe.

Me too mate, I was going camping this week, if anything you’d think Wexford would appreciate an extension of winter
