The spare arm tackle is a symptom of the steps rule I think. If you can’t carry it 8 steps a defender has some chance to win it clean. If you can then they have no option to stop you with the hurley.

You could argue the opposite too. If lads are allowed hold on to your arm, you need to take a few extra steps to get away

I think both football and hurling suffer from the lack of a legitimate tackle. Was different in both when the game wasn’t possession based.
Funnily enough Kerry probably started the short passing thing in the 80s in football and Cork in hurling in the 00s the two traditional counties of both.
The Ulsters and the Limericks have built on it since.
Agreed. But if fellas had to solo into a tackle it would be easier take the ball off them and you could call the spare arm stuff.

Kyle Hayes can’t go into a tackle anymore because he gets no frees, he has adapted his game the last few matches to let it go earlier.

The 65 is too easily scored now. I like the idea they have in the survey of it being taken from the further 65. The quick puc out needs to be told to fuck right off too.

I was ok with the '65 because we need to think about the game outside the senior intercounty set up and I’d be wary of changing it for club, or underage etc.

I proposed making it indirect or a sideline from the '45.
I don’t think a '65 was ever meant to be a handy score. Seems a bit of a punishment for making a save (I suppose there is the argument that it encourages going for goal, which is a good thing, as you know you’ve a chance of a fallback point).

A shot from your own 65 would be about 50/50 I’d say?
I don’t understand the two points for a sideline proposal. It’s a great skill but it’s not thrilling or something we desperately need more of.
Given how difficult it is to retain possession from sidelines now I think we’re going to see a lot more puck outs going long and out for sidelines, I can see cork going for this as a way to improve their returns on puck outs against limerick.

Leave it on the 65 in line where the ball went dead but it has to be taken in the same manner as a sideline cut

I’d say 80% is high? Maybe I’m wrong. Its never straight down the middle either. @Big_Dan_Campbell suggestion isn’t bad either though I’d say the Groundsman wouldn’t be too enamoured with it
