There is a strong and logical argument that eliminating handpasses would go strongly towards eliminating rucks, since teams would have to play in a more direct style.

I’m not sure if you remember the semi final v Clare but there was an incident in that game featuring Nickie Quaid and Peter Duggan…where Duignan was screaming for a black card when both collided… despite no one being in possession of the ball. Thankfully the referee knew the black card rules and didn’t award it but bizarrely awarded a penalty when the collision was miles outside the area. It nearly derailed Limerick’s season but thankfully justice was served in the end… my point being it could have been a whole lot worse if the referee didn’t apply the rules correctly and gave in to the screaming marys.

This could be worth freeze frame analysis as a not great call of the genre.
A sideline cut is a fine skill, I just think it’s way too much of a potential punishment for a back potentially producing a good bit of defensive play.
Backs are already fucked over enough.
A situation where it’s more preferable for a back to pull a defender down and concede 1 point rather than go for a block and end up conceding a sideline & potentially 2 points is not something I want to see.

Maybe. The proof would be in the pudding I suppose. I genuinely don’t think handpassing is the issue it’s being made out to be. Cork and Tipp, the biggest proponents of the throw, may have an issue with adjusting their games were it policed fully.
