So sad that my Monaghan vacation is drawing to a close. You’re in Castleblaney, you go down a side street, through a pillared gate and suddenly beautiful, expansive Lough Muckno is greeting you. Incredible amenity smack bang in the town. Forest trail and lake. We’ve also been to well known tourist hotspots across the county border in Cootehill, Cavan (Erica’s Fairy Forest) and Knockbridge, Louth (Stephenstown Pond). Here’s Lough Muckno.

Spent a week there 2 years ago. Magic spot. No Brits/Irish/Phil Lynott T-shirts.

Gorgeous beach and lovely fun little town. Spent 2 nights in the Hurricane Hotel to finish it off. Savage spot. Didn’t see any of them moo cows though!!
