I'm a dosser who takes pictures of inane scenery thread

Oh dear. This West Coast Scenery Snobbery is tiresome.

Fagan O’Dowd swatting away th flies here, bizarre that people from Limerick like Puke and Runt should be snobbish about scenery considering the bland and unremarkable nature of the area and its hinterland.

The walk from UL to town along the banks of the broad majestic Shannon is class as well.

Just don’t do it on your own.

From stunning Killiney and Howth hills to this. FFS.

any walk along the shannon is noble in fairness to it…Often walk the headrace canal as well from the Wier to Ardnacrusha, not picturesque per sae but a lovely walk

The cliff walk in Howth and Killiney Hill are both fine walks.

There’s a super walk along the Kerry Way between Kenmare and Killarney. You can start / finish at Torc Waterfall and walk up through the mountains and forests towards Kenmare. If you’re there at the right time of year you’ll be entertained by the mating call of the local deer.

Also a great walk for a summers day on the Portmagee side of Valencia Island with a view of the Skelligs out to sea

Valencia

My memories of Howth hill are somewhat spoilt by labouring on a site there from November to March.
Spent some cold cold days there

The walk up Croagh Patrick looking back over clew bay is fantastic

Diamond Hill in Connemara. I climbed this a couple of months back. Great views from the top, looking down on Kylemore Abbey and back across the Twelve Bens

One in the Mourne Mountains that can also be considered an Eastern seaboard walk is Slieve Donard. Start at Bloodybridge on the coast three miles outside Newcastle and follow the stream up until you reach the shoulder. Eventually you come to the wall that stretches across the whole of the Mournes. Follow it up to the top. Descend the far side of the mountain and back into Newcastle.

Slieve Gullion in South Armagh can be easily climbed - there is a road up to near the top and the view stretches across to Slieve Foye in the Cooley peninsula which can be climbed from the town of Carlingford with great views of Carlingford Lough and the Mournes on one side and Gullion and Dundalk Bay on the other sides.

The top bit of Croagh Patrick is a cunt to get up, but worth it in the end, not to be attempted in bare feet.

Gleninchaquin Park near Kenmare

soft townie cunt.

some nice walks around the cliffs and headlands on the Hook head. Unreal when there is a storm, but absolutley picturesque on a nice sunny day. A walk down the cliffs the the back of Loftus hall is class too. Eerie feel to the place still.

What’s the story with that house GMAN?

Loftus Hall runt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loftus_Hall

big mansion house built hundreds of years ago, and had a visit from the devil who shot up through the roof. and apparently yer one who saw it went mental and when she died her ghost remained haunting the place. Rumoured (and dont know why or how it came about) that it was bought by Bono, but I’m not sure about the ins and outs of the sale or if it did actually sell, and would highly doubt it was bought by him. some of the architecture inside is amazing. the staircase was made in Italy in the 1800’s and was shipped over. unreal detail in it.

I also heard Michael Jackson was interested in it at one stage. Complete bullshit I’d say. Were you ever in it, Gman?

yeah was in it a good few times alright. it was a hotel up until the early 90’s, but has been boarded up since. used to go in around the site after that when out and about there. Went into the house itself a couple of times in the last few years, left in an awful state. Theres loads of people going in around it, think there is videos on youtube of lads staying in the place. Rubbish all over the place and vandalised a bit now too. Some nice quiet beaches out the back of it off the cliffs, nice views across to Dunmore.

I’m not from the coast, I’m inland from you the otherside of the mountains

Flaggy Shore was in no mood for small talk at 8am this morning…
