I'm on top of the world thread

A racer. Dolan frame. Mavic wheels. Shimano group set.

don’t ever mention it again

Yes boss.

Played 18 holes of golf for free at the heritage today in the sunshine. Finished and went for a few pint bottles of Bulmers in the sun and then watched the Brazil game with beannachtai from the good lady. Came home to do the bedtime routine with the little lady and she was fast asleep in time for me to put my bets on and settle down with a beer for the colombia game.

Funny thing the bike. It’s not the heat, the terrain, the wind, the wheels, the weight or anything. Just some days you are on it, but more often you are not, and spend the last two hours dreaming of the bath and the nest.

Finally got the balls to write something. Not quite for publishing in a paper but enough for someone to know whether I could write or not.

Sent it to my fave Irish Times journo. Took a couple of weeks and I’d given up hope but he wrote a huge email back saying he loved it and that I had more than enough talent to be a freelancer. Gave a shitload of advice too.

I was pretty fucking pleased!

The hard work starts now.

Superb:clap::clap:

A nephew called there earlier looking for the lend of an angle-grinder. I told him there was no problem, but I was contemplating painting the ceiling in the sitting room while herself was away. He spontaneously agreed to lend a hand, passing 40 minutes with a brush cutting in the edges. Boxty power-rolled the rest of it in jig time, we shared a couple of beers, cleaned up and packed away the gear.
He’s calling back around the 5 mark to transport me to the village. It looks a great job in fairness, so a few deserved pints are in order.

Simple pleasures/success are the best. I’m on top of the world right now.

If you need to get the attention of a few journos, there’s no better place than TFK to be it seems

Seriously though, fair play Thraw - hope we get to read them before they’re published.

Thanks Mac. I’ve a long way to go yet, mind. Seems like you’ve got to be pitching ideas to every editor going before you might get a break and eventually get to the stage where they call you.

If anyone has any article ideas, please post them here. You’ll be acknowledged in code in the piece.

Ah good man Boxty.

Quinns or the Abbey?

Bro, ever considered something in music journalism?

Have you mate? I love listening to you talk about music.

Ah good man Boxty.

Quinns or the Abbey?[/QUOTE]

Fuck it to hell, we’ll hit Ballinamore, Tom Prior’s, although he’s been dead a long time. The newest Prior, Gabriel and I share a memory of a mighty bout of fisticuffs between us back in the 60’s in a 1st. round game.

The Abbey for the finale @farmerinthecity . Landlord has the tape set up…

There’s a heap of topics I’d like to write about and certainly music journalism would be one of them. I’m still learning how one goes about breaking into the different strands of journalism.
Time to get fucking writing anyway.

Set up a blog.

put a wash on this morning before heading out, came back around 2 and put it out and noticed one Pierre Cardin sock was missing, this drove me mad all afternoon and I tore the place apart looking for it, I had to give up eventually, but it was preying on my mind all evening, just brought the washing in from the line and it fell out of the sleeve of a shirt, I am on a right high now

Seems to be the thing to do alright…

Advice seems to always be to write what you know about/are passionate about

Leaving job
Moving back in with parents
Forming a band
Romancing foreign ladies
