Important Poll

And now as I lie here
My body all holes
I think of those traitors
Who bargained in souls
I pray that my rifle
Has given the same
As those quislings who sold out
The Patriot Game.

It’s the rugby lot that those who really want a UI should follow.

Sadly it’s all about justifying the last grubby campaign.

i think it was that song that gave me a love for the word quisling

Two things though. All you’re doing is moving from Fianna Fáil 1.0 to Fianna Fáil 2.0, and making a United Ireland harder. Politically, you’re making quite the leap thinking one would be better than the other.

Those leaning into Ra tunes and making a joke of it all are making it harder for a United Ireland. Fine if your goal is to make the likes of drug dealer Brendan Dempsey more palatable to the next generation, not so much if you want a UI.

Even if you agree with the overall IRA campaign I don’t think you should explicitly be chanting Up the Ra about an organisation which murdered innocent men, women and children

You can if the next second you start going on about the British Empire.

Is there a plausible response to the whataboutery about empire though? Could anyone seriously argue that British colonialism didn’t kill more innocent people and cause more lasting damage than irish republicanism.
I had never really thought about it before that cunt on sky got my goat up but it’s almost comical that Irish people are made to feel so ashamed about the relatively tiny amount of people killed by the IRA given the mayhem and destruction the British state caused all around the world let alone in northern Ireland itself. Belting out rule Britannia at all sorts of occasions when it’s literally a song about taking over other countries and killing their inhabitants

It’s the deaths of British security forces and crown agents we celebrate with those words. Unfortunately, some innocents died as always do in war.

The IRA was 2 men and a dog until bloody Sunday… British colonial policy and action in Ireland always did more to swell the ranks of the IRA than anything the IRA themselves could do

I don’t feel ashamed about the IRA because I don’t support the IRA. I resent those who try to co-opt the people who murdered Councillor Ray McAdam’s uncle as part of a “struggle” when they were sectarian scum of the earth. I also resent that my flag is used to shield murderers (Robert McCartney) and drug dealers (Brendan Dempsey) in just the last 15 years.

Those who want to shout “Up The Ra” as a troll can do so, but they can keep quiet on the next horrific murder on this island as that is what they are supporting. Patriotism is not the same as supporting a blood thirsty organisation.

Those who bring up the British Army are cowards. I don’t think Paul Quinn’s mother deserves to be used as a scapegoat for 200 years of British Army atrocities by those who want to deflect.

Well no, you’re celebrating the organisation by chanting those words. An organisation that murdered innocent people, some of those deliberately.

You’re telling me what im doing? Thanks. I know what I’m doing.

So the British army shot civilians in cold blood. You’d imagine celebrating them would be as much of a taboo as celebrating the IRA who also murdered civilians. Even worse as they were supposed to be the forces of law and order and had unlimited financial resources.

You’ve literally described the British army there and they are constantly celebrated in britain🤷🏻

The IRA were for the most part always responding to state terrorism… We don’t know the half of the collusion that went on I’d day. The British state is the real murder machine.

Surely both are as bad as each other at the very least??
It’s a really simple question - which organisation has killed more innocent people and caused more damage, the British army or the IRA?
If we are accepting the IRA are evil murderous scum who should never be celebrated surely the same should be said of the British army and anyone celebrating them should have to apologise to the Irish/indians/aborigines/Kenyans etc etc

It’s really weird the way lads are so determined to celebrate drug dealers, widowers etc when it’s so counter productive to the cause they claim to trumpet. The best thing to happen for the Union in a long time is so many people from the south to decide to glorify the PIRA for shits and giggles.

Tim is a company man. A quisling. He only sees things one way - in favour of those in power. He lashed out a few names there and shur we could lash out plenty murdered by the British state but we won’t try use that kind of emotional blackmail… We don’t have to. We have right on our side. This is our country and if we’ve to wait 500 more years it will be ours again. When you’ve righteousness on your side you can wait as long as it takes.

I’m a realist mate, far more au fait with those you’re trying to “convince” than yourself.

I’m not sure why it is worthwhile for a “UI” strategy to venerate widowers, drug dealers and paedos. The losers like yourself who would have never picked up a gun chanting a bit are biggest impediment to a UI since British spies.

I’ll just leave this here. The British Empire, by any meaure, was a genocidal, mass murdering institution. Our small island was only a small part of the tyranny they inflicted, but still suffered immeasurably.
I honestly don’t get the “Good IRA” (venerated by our establishment political parties) pre 69 v “Bad IRA”.
Both were born out of necessity.
