Solicitors arenāt self regulated. They are regulated by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority, a State body.

The solicitors and barristers seem to be quite an influential lobby. There was a big push from the troika when they were in town to reform the regulation of both but they managed to hold it off somehow. Theyāre having quite a negative effect on Irish society across a number of areas in my opinion.
