Now he has to pay a ‘fine’ of twice the amount and spend a year with the kiddy fiddlers in Arbor Hill as I couldnt see him fairing well in gen. pop.

Solicitors aren’t self regulated. They are regulated by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority, a State body.

The solicitors and barristers seem to be quite an influential lobby. There was a big push from the troika when they were in town to reform the regulation of both but they managed to hold it off somehow. They’re having quite a negative effect on Irish society across a number of areas in my opinion.
