Do basic VHI plans cover you for knee ops in the likes of santry? Have to get cartilage repaired.
My VHI plan covered my hip arthroscopy in Santry but I canāt recall what type of plan I have though. You should ring VHI up to check - have your policy number at hand.
It all depends on the plan. Thereās big variances between the level of cover at private hospitals at the lower end.
I had sore and tight hamstrings - was doing hamstring stretches etc but no relief
Investigated and discovered that the sore hamstrings were related to poor hip mobility
worked on that and hamstrings are much better - if I let the hip exercises slide the sore hamstrings come back
my issue was my hamstrings were engaged in protective tension because the hips werenāt doing what they were supposed to do
stands to reason that if you had a hip operation your hamstrings are under some tension because you have lost hip mobility
I let my vhi slide as Iām one of the squeezed middle. Could I join up again and get the operation paid for by them in a few months or is there some way theyād know I did the injury while uninsured?
I think you would get away with it* if the knee injury is something you can cope with for a little while until you get the insurance in place and go through the process.
Youāll have some form filling at various stages; e.g. if youāre getting MRI and/or X-Ray and when youāre having the operation itself. The forms will ask you when and how you sustained the injury so put in a date after you renewed your VHI cover.
Make sure you select a plan that covers the knee operation when you are joining up again. You can speak to an employee over the phone and find out as part of the process. But VHI generally covers ankle, knee, hip, shoulder surgeries in Santry if you get the right plan. Just tell the VHI person that you play a lot of sport and want a plan that would cover you if you ever got injured.
*Iām not encouraging this course of action.
Down to 1 crutch after 25 days - thatās 3 days ahead of schedule. Cmmmmaaaannnn.
I discarded my remaining crutch earlier 35 days after surgery, guys.
Iām doing a 25-minute workout twice per day at the moment. It consists of the following:
Iām starting some stationary bike work tomorrow too - 10-minutes at a time a couple of times per day.
It thankfully seems to be coming on well and Iāll progress it some more towards the end of next week following my next physio appointment. I must update the appointments thread actually.

What hip flexion stretch are you doing?
Lying on my back, two hands locked at the front of the leg on the knee and pulling back up towards the chest.
Have you reintroduced any more traditional hip stretching excercises into your life since the op pal?? Must be a frustrating time for Mrs Monty
Ah ffsā¦ Up it to the next level.
Colin, you are a pussy. I was off both crutches after a mere 5 days.
You stay out of it. Iāll be guided by my physio and surgeon, you cretin.
Probably went back to work after a week too, you fucking mug.
Yeah because they have no motive other than seeing you to return to full health. The fact that they are so patient and willing to see you over an extended period is just a bonus for you.
You have one post surgery consultation, you simpleton.
Donāt be lashing out at me because youāre being made a mug of. What strengthening exercises are you doing and what areas? My hip flexors/ aductors are also fucked due to lower back issues but I manage to train three times a week and shine for 90 minutes every Sunday. Stretch/strengthen/foam roll.
I listed my regime on the last page of the thread. Pay attention, fool.
