Claiming that ISIS snipers have been activated from sleeper cells in Baghdad. Also that ISIS have begun their push to the capital but have met heavy resistance so far.
Some craic in Iraq. Assad sent bombers to hit some ISIS targets in Iraq.
So to summarise at this stage:
The US has armed and trained both sides of the conflict namely ISIS & the Iraqi Government.
The Iraqi Governments allies are the Iran & Syria Governments, both of whom the USA will have serious trouble getting into bed with.
The Kurds are after quietly taking over a large part of the North of Iraq and seem to be the only ones in the conflict with a proper military. An independent Kurdistan seems a real prospect.

The Kurds deserve a break in fairness. I worked with a few in Queensland out on the veg fields. Fuck me they lived work even though they never really had worked. Them lads had a tough Fucking life.
The Arabs wonât be able to stop ISIS on their own. The US needs to make friends with Iran. Without Iranian support the Iraqi Shias are facing a nightmare.
Theyâve been stopped to date due to the Turks not wanting an independent Kurdistan on their borders, due to the large number of Kurds inside their border. Their chances are good now though as a few things have changed:
The Turks are Sunnis where as the new Iraqi Government are Shiites. It seems the only people Muslims hate more than non muslims are other different muslims* (To make matters more complicated the Kurds are Sunnis aswell, but the wrong ethnicity.) It seems Turkey will let the Kurds off if it means taking power from the Shiites.
The Kurds also have a bit of Oil going at the minute which they export through Turkey, the Turks are understandably happy enough with this.
The US might just cut their losses and let Iraq go to the wall, hang onto the Kurds as allies in the region and let the rest of them go at it.
The real tipping point here is if Iran were to go in behind the Iraqi Shiites and the rest of the Sunnis went in against them.
The Israelis are due to level someone shortly as well @mickee321 which side are your boys lining up on? The whole thing is a bit of a powder keg.

a good summary. The US has built up Kurdistan as a partner and a base of operations.
Theyâve declared a new state in the area theyâve carved out between Syria & Iraq and called it the islamic state. Theyâve also declared it a Caliphate which means that all Sunnis are in theory under its control. Doubt the Kings out there will be too happy with that.
