Iām assuming you mean the snipers should have shot him from outside? The glass in the restaurant windows is very thick and there was a high likelihood that a bullet would not actually pierce it, even if it did, would probably then change direction and possibly take out a hostage. If a bullet (even the high cal rounds they are using) hit a window at an oblique angle, it would probably deflect away and place someone else in danger. The snipers were actually there primarily for the scopes on their rifles to keep eyes on the mental guy and especially the backpack he had on the whole time. The only real way they had to apprehend him / end the situation, was for the tactical police at the doorway to storm the shop, which is what happened. But this was a last resort, the ideal resolution was for the prick to give himself up. But that clearly didnāt happen.
Iāve listened to a lot of police with tactical experience over the last few days and what they do is very different to the hollywood shite we all assume itās like. These are extremely volatile situations with extremely volatile people and patience is often the best weapon. Unfortunately, two people died. It could have been 17.

Colin, a woman in Brisbane observed a Muslim female taking off her headscarf, as she was scared she would be abused for being Muslim. Someone else in Sydney then posted on twiter offering to do the same for any Muslim women on public transport and the hashtag #illridewithyou was born. It had over 100k retweets in hours. Iāve heard a number of similar stories over the last couple of days. One of the girls in the childcare centre in our building who wears a headscarf was telling me yesterday that three people offered to sit and walk with her on the train yesterday morning. The racists are being mugged off good and proper.
