I stand corrected. Pool A with Poland, England and Greece please Carol. I’m putting my country above my possible travel arrangements.
I was deadly serious. Of course it’s on the bloody TV!
we are 4/1 to get out of the group and 12/1 to top the group.
We’ve always scored at least three goals in competitive internationals in Poznan.
Ireland vs England
Sunday 24 June 2012
Kiev
The FAI blazers who had such good fun in Poland in the 90s must be overjoyed with recent events.
The Czech’s will be coming to Dublin for a friendly in February.
What are the international breaks for friendlies between now and June?
Think it is one game in February and two games at the end of May.
According to the Irish Times this morning the chances of England coming to Dubin in May are in doubt due to a Uefa rule were the 16 teams who qualified for the Euro’s cannot play friendlies against each other 30 days before the competition but there is a chance that this may be relaxed
They’re pretty much as you’ve described them Mac. They’re breaks for international friendly matches.
Thanks for clearing that up you bland cunt
Steven Reid was on ‘Off The Ball’ tonight. Really reaffirming what he has said previously about coming back. I’d really like to see him return. Our best midfielder under Trap imo.
If Trap will jump Steven will follow. I don’t think Trap will jump however.
Based on a game against Georgia in Mainz.
He plays right back these days Larry. Played pretty decent when I saw him recently but Trap will have JOS and Kelly ahead of him anyway.
Don’t think the fact he is currently playing right back will make too much of a difference, it is not a case that he hasn’t played central midfield at a decent level before and would be thrown in there for the sake of it, like the numerous times you have touted that either Wilson or Clark for get a run there. Given the fact that he is more than likely up against Darren Gibson, James McCarthy or an even more unproven player for the 4th central midfield spot I wouldn’t be surprised if he was brought back in and would much prefer to see him in midfield than either of Gibson or McCarthy
I don’t have a strong opinion either way on his potential return but that’s a good post and sums up why I’d have no problem if he was given a recall.
He’s fit and a good player. He has every right to be given a chance to prove himself at right back or in midfield.
Actually thought his performance against Black Mountain was better, KiB, by the way…
Giles was saying it would be unfair on the players who played in qualifying but I’m not having that. He played under Trap - not his fault he was injured. Still think it’s unlikely but wouldn’t have anything against him getting in there on merit.
But he did retire from international football to concentrate on his club career. Granted that was to prolong his professional career after his various injury problems but it was his decision to opt out.
I understand that but it wasn’t a particularly selfish act - it was really to guarantee he could have a career, not because he wasn’t arsed with the international stuff.
I think we’re agreeing with each other overall. He’s obviously a separate case to Stephen Ireland or someone who simply wasn’t arsed.
