So Fitzgerald and Kenny have issued statements saying they were aware of contact between Zappone and the McCabes affecting her department but not the exact nature of it and the specific details regarding Tusla. Zappone is the Minister for Children. Do they expect us to believe that they didn’t seek or receive information from Zappone as to why her department was involved and what was the exact nature of the issues at hand?

A party comes into government with a clean slate after 14 years out of power, and within a couple of years they’ve completely tied themselves up in knots covering up corruption in the Gardai, and continue on in that vein of incompetence, lies, misinformation and deceit.

The thing about this lack of communication between cabinet members, much as it may be newsworthy if it was in relation to a more mundane story, is that it’s obscuring the real issue.
The real issue, especially after the story of the Tusla file on the second whistleblower, is that it appears it is highly likely there is an organised conspiracy going right to the top of the Garda Siochana, most likely in collaboration with individuals from another state agency, to smear whistleblowers as child sex abusers.
The ramifications of the Government possibly falling is toy department stuff by comparison.
