No. Being six is being a kid. Your brain isn’t developed properly and there is some stuff you can’t process properly. Teenagers are often messed up as fuck going through puberty etc. It’s how this girl was handled that is the problem. The claim was made and dismissed. That’s it. The only thing that is clear from the article is that she’s furious it was all brought up again.

What consequences would you like to see for a 16year old who thought she may have been abused and reports it? Should they be ridiculed unless they have evidence? Seems like you’d like to return to an earlier Ireland where anything like that was brushed under the carpet.

Why?

She’s giving an interview to national slandering McCabe with a veil of anonymity around her. There’s a rancid odour of malice to that interview and McCabe is the target of it. None of us know what happened but I know what I believe what happened.

She shouldn’t have been given the interview. Full stop. But if she now regrets the allegations she has every right to be angry that someone added the claim that she had been physically violated to it to beef up some dirt on McCabe.

As I’ve said twice, It’s nuts that she was given the interview. Appalling from the It. But if you were used once to attack a gardai you’d be pretty pissed that it was dragged up again and reused 8 years later. I imagine she will be vindicated in this respect in the public enquiry.

Gut feeling is it was a nothing claim that she ended up coming out with while all messed up as a teenager and her personal circumstances meant she was pushed to report and pursue the claim. I’d imagine that she wanted it all to disappear. Instead she’s walking around her home town getting looks from People that suggest ‘there’s the fucking batch that ruined that poor man’s life.’
If this is the case I’d imagine she’s seething that it was reused to blacken his name and that the extra allegation was digitally inserted into the report.

She’s about as anonymous as Donald Trump. Granted her name may not be allowed in the public domain but the people who need to know ( McCabe) who she is are aware of her. All the more reason not to give the interview

Jan 2006 - McCabe reports/sanctions a garda.

Dec 2006 - Daughter of Garda alleges sexual abuse against McCabe

November 2012 - McCabe comes to public attention in Garda whistlbower saga

August 2013 - Daughter goes voluntarily to see a counsellor and discusses sex allegations against McCabe.

Call me a cynic but I see a convenient timeline here.

2. If not, how do you think she feels about those allegations now?
3. How would you feel if someone used a complaint you made about someone but beefed it up with serious sexual allegations in order to fuck that other person over and the fallout went national?
