Ireland politics (Part 1)

It will be as bad as the civil war.

The marriage referendum was pretty divisive. Dinosaurs hate change. But they hate some changes more than they hate other changes.

This will be a 50 point something to 49 point something job.

I reckon itā€™ll be passed overwhelmingly.

As Iā€™m against the killing of innocent babies Iā€™ll be voting No, personally.

I think it will pass by more.

Are you cool with shipping them off to England to be killed?

Nobody is being ā€œshippedā€ off anywhere. Itā€™s a choice people make themselves, nobody is putting a gun to their head.

Iā€™m not criticising them for doing so either.

Thereā€™s swivel eyed looks on both sides of this debate. I see loads of them outside Leinster House each day. Ironically most of them on both sides are so hard on the eye theyā€™d actually be a good advert for either abortion or abstinence

I donā€™t think any babies are killed, mate.

Killing babies? What on earth are you talking about?

Are nuns looking for the murder of babies to be legalised, now?

Iā€™d be on the anti-murdering side myself although depending on the wording and implications of the vote I could vote either way

Not having a go now mate, and I donā€™t intend to get into this too much, but do not think thatā€™s a bit hypocritical? This is happening all the time, do you not think we should accept that as a fact and then make it as safe or even limited as possible?

Iā€™m not so sure @glas . The problem here is that itā€™s another vote that will be deeply personal and people will not necessarily vote how they say or poll. Add to that the fact that there is a large demographic in their 30ā€™s and 40ā€™s whoā€™ve just had babies. Depending on how itā€™s phrased/publicised, this large cohort wonā€™t necessarily vote as liberally as you think. Anyone who has had a kid finds it harder to countenance abortion(apart from Sinead O Connor). Anyway, Iā€™d say the unders is a savage bet.

Iā€™m on the anti-murdering side too. Which puts me on the opposite side to the Roman Catholic Church, I guess.

Just expressing my opinion. Iā€™m staunchly No. Iā€™ve no issue with people who are staunchly Yes.

The lefties are all for free speech and equality until someone expresses a view they donā€™t agree with.

Iā€™ll accept the result of the referendum as thatā€™s democracy. Look at the whinging still ongoing over Trumpā€™s democratic election, though, on the other hand.

Do you get all your opinions from George Hook or just the great majority of them?

The Roman Catholic church are pro-life iirc correctly mate, although my views have nothing to do with religion anyway

I suppose they claim to be.

Iā€™d be one of the lefties and I literally just asked you politely to express your view, so that sentence is a bit mad.

I donā€™t determine my ethical viewpoints from a broadcaster.

Each to their own. If itā€™s repealed and becomes the law of the land Iā€™ll accept it as most adults will.

david quinn levels of staunchness?
